Just starting to think about New Year and wanting a bit of inspiration!

Health/personal/work/home/whatever!

OP posts:

Buy less, watch less tv and less sitting on my phone.
We seem to have it ingrained we need to buy stuff all the time. I'm sick of adverts trying to brainwash us into thinking we need whatever product they want to sell to make some money and I'm taking a stand!

Eliza9917 · 29/12/2018 12:13

Lose 5 and a half stone.
Eliminate as many chemicals as possible from our home.
Buy less/recycle more/reuse.
Declutter the whole house.
Follow and keep up with tomm.
Go on more dog walks.

ShutUpBaz · 29/12/2018 12:36

I don't normallt make any but the 31st is my last day in this job and I start a new, completely different one on 4th January. So I guess, I have a totally fresh start and I will make the very best of it as my resolution.

Good luck to you all with your resolutions!

nancybelle · 29/12/2018 13:03

To buy less is the main one, especially to stop spending in my works overpriced canteen.

I would also like to lose weight as I’ve got an op scheduled and weighing less decreases the anaesthetic risks.

Also to wear earrings. I have so many pairs but never wear them.

Any other changes are a bonus 😊

Imustbemad00 · 29/12/2018 13:10

To try and spend less/budget better, save some money for emergencies and be able to buy myself some new clothes.

Lose 2 stone by May and hopefully feel more energetic once eating healthy again

setAsProfile · 29/12/2018 13:44

No cafe coffee. There's one at my work and staff can run a tab. I was shocked when I paid it at the end of term.

10 pistol squats by Easter.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/12/2018 08:52

Ooooh I love New Years resolutions. This is the first year I won't be resolving to lose weight, because last year I actually did it, and lost 3 stone!

This year:
Wear sunscreen every single day (on my face)
Run 1000 miles
Go sugar free til Easter

My other one is to stop allowing people to treat me as a second rate citizen because I'm a sahm. I have a few 'friends' who abuse my goodwill and never reciprocate, and it's got to stop. I am going to nurture my good friendships and let my toxic ones drift.

I'm going to get more assertive with certain people.

I'm going to switch my phone off during the day to get me off mumsnet!!

Eliza9917 · 30/12/2018 14:11

@setAsProfile what are pistol squats?

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 30/12/2018 18:17

Follow TOMM - I've been loosely following along but tomorrow is week one again so new year (almost) new start!

Eat more healthy - not to lose weight (although 10lbs off would be good) but not to gain any.

Reuse and recycle as much as possible.

Walk more often instead of taking the car for short trips.

Smashthelookingglass · 30/12/2018 18:22

To budget better is the main one.

To say 'no' if something doesn't work for me. I'm terrible for saying yes to everything and it not working out well for me.

To stand up for myself more.

VioletCharlotte · 30/12/2018 19:52

Mine -
To do more yoga
Complete a challenge (signed up for 26 m walk in September)
To have a new job by the end of the year (pref ASAP!)
To travel to at least one place I've never been before
To save at least £50 per month

Allyg1185 · 30/12/2018 19:58

Get back to swimming twice a week. Not been in a month due to me pulling a muscle in my chest then my mum being ill and then the xmas closures.

Always have a book on the go and a craft project

Look at my phone less

Use up leftover food and throw out less

Stop wasting money on crap like coffees and junk

HalloumiGus · 30/12/2018 20:04

Loads so I need to prioritise them. Mainly:

  • Sort out my diet - much more plant based and reduce my bad carbs/ processed foods.
  • Drink more water / herbal tea and less coffee.
  • Walk every day even if only for 15 mins
  • Declutter the house
  • Sort out my skincare and grooming as I'm starting to look like a bit of a bag lady!
  • TOMM for housework and keep at it.

How I'm going to do all this with job / childcare / other caring responsibilities I'm not quite sure. I need one of those time spinner things from Harry Potter!

LadyWithLapdog · 30/12/2018 20:11
  • lose weight (5kg)
  • run regularly
  • reduce waste, spend less
Rottie454 · 30/12/2018 21:11

To be on my phone less. Me and my partner spend all evening on it when we come home from work. Also eat healthier

BlessedMango · 31/12/2018 04:22

To look for the good in people / things / events, and to make the best of bad ones.
