to ask those of you who are parents for a little help?

I've recently had my first baby and my parents have been my rocks. They have gone above and beyond (if that's possible for parents) and I want to get them something really special to say thank you for being there. I know I don't have to, but I would like to.

I'm just in a complete fog and have no idea what to get them. A photo in a frame is a little predictable...

Can anyone suggest anything to me? Anything special you received of your DCs?

Get dcs hand/footprints cast and framed?

Flowerpot2005 · 28/12/2018 20:53

Wait a little time my love.

As you say, you're in a complete fog at the moment. Give it a little time, they won't be expecting anything, & choose something meaningful that you'd be happy with.

Write them a letter. From the heart. It’ll mean far more than anything you could ever buy I promise.

Footprints on a plate?
Worlds best grandparents mugs?

lifecouldbeadream · 28/12/2018 20:55

Honestly, I would say the rewards will be theirs. Grandchildren are a blessing. They do it because they want to, not because they have to. Their effort now will reap rewards as your DC gets older and they have a close bond.

When my DD had her 1st, it was enough to be able to sit and cuddle my grandchild and see the amazing mum that my DD became.

No gift could ever have topped that.

What about a plant OP? I gave my mum and magnolia erm, stick.Xmas Blush It is now a beautiful magnolia tree in full view of her kitchen window.

She has taken many photos of DS1 and magnolia as they have grown.

My grandson is 10, we still have a framed piece of paper with his footprints on. Our daughter put paint on his feet then stood him on a piece of paper. Cheap, personal and so special.

I love the plant idea, but I really love the letter idea too. I'm not very good with words but sure I could think of something....

I gave my folks some (naice) mugs this Xmas with Grandma and Grandad on.... DD is 2. My mum wept like a baby. Made me sob too to see her reaction. It's the small gestures apparently. Take care of you, you're v lucky to have hands on GP in your life xx
