Which animals scream?

There's an awful screaming sound in my garden, it's obviously not people but it's horrendous, what animals scream? It's keeping me awake!

Foxes. We have one in our urban setting and it drives me mad. Sounds like a woman screaming which is where the Irish myth of the Banshee is supposed to come from. The idea of a ghostly woman screaming in the night and predicting your death

Squirrels. I swear one squirrel sounds worse than a million cats being strangled. Surprisingly loud too considering they’re only little.

And raccoons especially when they get into a fight over the contents of a bin.

And also coyotes, bloody scary noises they make out here at night and sound travels for miles so it sounds like they’re surrounding you and closing in so they can kill you and eat you...

It’s probably not raccoons or coyotes if you’re in the UK though so your bins are safe and you’re unlikely to get killed and eaten so try not to worry.

Hmm, so far I have foxes, deer, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits, frogs and cats in my garden. I don't mind a bit of nature but draw the line at a multi-species orgy.

Bush babies are very loud.

Foxes have dark, foul smelling faeces (usually slap bang right where you want to tread in the middle of the lawn or on a path... marking 'their' territory!)

Most likely foxes. I grew up in the countryside and never heard or saw a fox, I moved to London in my 20s as a live in nanny and the first night I heard this awful noise that sounded like someone being murdered! I phoned my Dad at 11pm because I was genuinely worried and when he heard my description he reassured me that it was foxes. Never been so relieved!

A rabbit screams like a young child if it’s maimed.

Time of the year for foxes to start TTC

Fox. Only time I've heard it I ran and didn't look back. Was very when my dad said what it probably was.

Foxes make a racket.Weirdly I like it ,makes me feel something wild is still out there despite the acres of paved over gardens and perpetual light from street lighting.However when my dogs roll in fox poo and my lawn gets dug up I feel less benevolent and would prefer them to make their den in whats left of the nearby wood than under our shed.

Cats fighting or squaring up to each other make an awful sound.

The first time I heard foxes I thought it was a baby in pain. It is awful.

Muntjac, small little dear things, we have them around here a lot.

Dh and I heard a badger scream when it was hit by a car (not our car, we were walking home from the pub) - not the nicest thing I have witnessed .

You are being totally unreasonable. Sort your life out.

I once woke up thinking a woman was being raped in my street. The screams were really disturbing. Then realised it was foxes
