and better than the biscuits inside them (although the biscuits are nice) my parents got a Grandma Wilds biscuit tin that depicts the 12 days of Christmas on the lid and around the outside. Tis lovely.

Not feeling it, sorry OP! Looks distinctly average to me.

jessstan2 · 28/12/2018 00:57

Yes! I keep them, I have quite a collection. Gorgeous pictures - a London bus, a pillar box, various royal things.

I was given one this year from M&S, Highland Shortbread. The picture on the lid is a beautiful stag, limited edition.

SoleBizzz · 28/12/2018 01:11

I was in ASDA tonight. I picked up a biscuit ton that is musical! Not seen one of those type before.

SoleBizzz · 28/12/2018 01:12

I do like that tin Helena.

HelenaDove · 28/12/2018 01:14

Sole Bizz For last Christmas and the one before Sainsburys did some musical biscuit tins with transparent domes on top with little figures of scottie dogs and snowmen inside.

We've got a few cool ones. I bought them for the tins, not the biscuits. Used to have a smallish carousel style one which played a tune and turned round. Saw a similar, bigger but less nice one this year.

zen1 · 28/12/2018 01:21

I’ve kept a few Christmas biscuit tins over the years. My favourite is a cone shaped musical one from M&S that you twist to wind up and it plays We Wish You a Merry Christmas. It stands in the centre of the dining table over Christmas.

zen1 · 28/12/2018 01:24

Helena, a couple of years ago Quality Street brought out a heritage tin over Christmas. I bought one as it reminded me of my childhood (1970s).

HelenaDove · 28/12/2018 01:29

oh i missed that one zen the plastic tubs they do now are so unimaginative.

I saw one in M & S (I think it was, anyway) recently with a gorgeous picture of a white stag on it. Very majestic he looked too.

Not Xmassy, but i got this lovely tin filled with chocolates as a gift and i find it so lovely!

We were given this musical one several years ago. It’s beautiful and still plays it’s tune. www.fortnumandmason.com/products/merry-go-round-musical-tin

Muddlingalongalone · 28/12/2018 05:41

M&S had a beautiful book one this year. I was just passing through intending to buy tubs of chocs for nursery/school presents & ended up buying 6!

Skittlesandbeer · 28/12/2018 06:09

I found a one in a charity shop recently. Hinged, rectangular, with a viewing window in the lid. All the christmassy colours.

Perfect for storing paints if you’re a watercolourist. We put teeny magnets under the little paint pans (which you then squeeze tube paint into). I love swapping my paints between colourful tins, depending on the times of year or the theme of my painting.

Some artists put white enamel paint across the inside lid of the tin, to make it into a mixing area. It’s crazy how much some vintage tins go for on eBay.

agnurse · 28/12/2018 06:15

Our mum saves Christmas biscuit tins to use for storage. I have an old Christmas sweet tin that I use for storing keepsakes. (Decorative Pot of Gold tin, incidentally, not Quality Street.)

Jessica78 · 28/12/2018 07:29

We got a vintage style Roses tin this year (may have decanted several of the plastic tubs in to it at this point)

Puddelchen · 28/12/2018 08:41

We got two this year, so beautiful.

P.s. I told the senders that I didn’t care what was inside them, it was the tin that was so special.

zen1 · 28/12/2018 12:40

They’re nice tins PuddelchenSmile

Thebookswereherfriends · 28/12/2018 12:59

I buy a nice tin of biscuits every year just for the pictures and then use them to store the decs in. I’ve got a lovely collection and it feels really special when I get the decorations out each year.

HelenaDove · 28/12/2018 20:21

oh they are beautiful.

I was given a beautiful tin this year too. The biscuits were nice, but not as lovely as the tin. Will definitely be keeping it.

I also have a couple of really beautiful tins from years ago, either given to me or to my aunt.

SoleBizzz · 29/12/2018 00:22

I went to Sainsburys today and bought three Scottie dog shaped, tactile design tins containing shortbread biscuits. Reduced £1.87 each.

So cute
