So this year, it had to be a fire blanket and car tyre valves from the in(outlaws !)😄

Not me but my daughter was given a creepy doll it looked ok but then you wound it up and the head rolled around like the exorcist and creaked it was polystyrene rubbing together she was also bought a trauma bear sort of a cheap care bear with real fucking issues both from her great nan both left there to play with on her next visit

MrsDoubtfire, I wish! We like practical gifts in our family, but this was a bit too far, even for us. It was from my mum, too Grin

MrsDoubtfire2018 · 28/12/2018 21:44

Last year - 2 display boxes of Lindt D’Or chocolates, the kind they have at the checkout in some stores where people buy one or two as a treat. Each contained about hundred pieces. They came from amazon with no packing list or name of sender, but were addressed to me. Apparently bought and sent along with other gifts from family in the UK but no one I spoke to said they’d ordered them and I got everything else they’d ordered. DH is diabetic and there’s a limit to how many chocolates even I can eat, plus I really don’t much like Lindt D’Or, so I took them to work and put them by the coffee machines, they were gone by the end of the morning.

A reusable shopping bag with a picture of a piglet on it.

IcaMorgan · 28/12/2018 21:58

64 old shape pound coins because she couldn’t be bothered to take them to the bank herself

Fermatslittletheorem · 28/12/2018 21:59

I'm in hospital and another patient said "happy Christmas" and threw men's socks with the days of the week on at me. Five pairs, ripped packet.

daphine2004 · 28/12/2018 22:01

I specifically asked my ex for a very posh umbrella, you know the ones with a wooden curved handle and would make me feel like Mary Poppins? Well, I was super excited as under the tree there was an umbrella shape. Come Christmas morning and I’m still very happy I have the umbrella, but upon opening it, it was a bloody spider catcher! It was like a litter picker with bristles to catch spiders. Apparently he didn’t like buying something that i’d asked for and wanted it to be a surprise. The fact I was scared of spiders he felt was a bonus and this would help with that. What an idiot!

AliTheMinx · 28/12/2018 22:01

A 3kg bag (sack!) of giant cola bottles...

beansontoastfortea · 28/12/2018 22:02

SarahET · 28/12/2018 22:03

Brilliant! My nan gives presents that she picks up in charity shops, they are pretty random but don't really compare to some of these.

What is the appropriate reaction to receiving a bag of pasta??? Hmm

poundoflard · 28/12/2018 22:12

The Four candles I'm guessing relates to the Two Ronnies Four candles / fork handles, so not random, just need to have seen the Two Ronnies

Marshmallow91 · 28/12/2018 22:17

Breast pump from my dad Grin

Out of context, that could be seen as downright strange.

But I asked for it because I'm due my first baby in February Brew
