So this year, it had to be a fire blanket and car tyre valves from the in(outlaws !)😄

Scourers from my Dad. I got other nice things like bubble bath and Maltesers. No explanation for the scourers.

My ex's mother was notoriously tight. Loaded but tight as arseholes - but that's probably how she got loaded in the first place!

One Christmas she gave me a piece of silk fabric. It was this horrible gaudy pattern, just a random off-cut with rough edges, folded up and wrapped up in recycled Christmas paper. As she handed it over to me with great aplomb, she said - I thought you could make something nice out of it!

I cannot sew a stitch, don't own a sewing machine, was so shit at needlework at school that they used to send me to get the shopping for the cookery class instead. I couldn't 'make anything' in a million years and she knew it.

Another year she gave me back a set of posh toiletries I had given her two years previously!!

Pack of microfibre cleaning cloths from my nan... They had a Xmas pattern on them 😉

Don’t want to derail the thread but @Exhsuatedmuch what are the dimensions of these mini china cups? And do you know where I can buy a few sets? I know a few people who wouldn’t mind having a set of tiny china cups to measure things.

I asked for a soup maker and didn't get one, which I'm sad about as I'm disabled and it was going to make my slimming world soups a lot easier for me.

Instead I got perfume I've specifically said I dislike, and a really ugly doll. I'm nearly 40, I don't like dolls, have never shown an interest in them and don't collect anything of the sort!

Scented drawer liner sheets. I think I must have been in my early 20s, gift from my (now) MIL. I had no idea what they were, and even now wonder if it was meant to be a subtle hint of some kind.

I dropped loads of hints for a soup maker and nobody got me one! My DH did get me one year a plug in bubble thing for the bath even though I never ever went in the bath, much prefer showers

When I was 8 (ish) I was given a Shoe shine kit by my great aunt

I got six barbie style dolls from a relative. I'm in my 20's and only mentioned that they looked quite sweet in passing

Because I often have a hot face while I'm working on my laptop and can't quite read the time on my screen, phone, watch or wall clock.

My OH got a bag of pasta from his brother. He asked if there was a story behind the pasta that he had forgotten. But nope. Just a random bag of pasta. Not even any sauce to go with it.

Toilet roll holder with shit happens on it. From a lady who has given me a very generous gift already this was a kind of add on.

I once got given a spanner by my aunt and uncle. I was 19 at the time and have never in my life done any DIY beyond essential repairs, nor had I had any recent conversations with them that might have given them the impression I was in need of a spanner. The strangest part is that the rest of my family got normal gifts from them, and so have I every year before and since

Last Christmas my DSis gave me an attachment to put in my toilet bowl which would light up at night. 8 different colours and all of them made my piss look unspeakable.
