I am not getting into a MM squabble because some people are unable to discuss her objectively without slipping into abuse of anyone who dares utter a word that questions her. I used her as an example of someone who many mnet users are pirrationally protective about and can not have a question raised about her without accusing the Press and anyone who posts of mysogyny and racism.

My point is not that anyone is critical of Mick Hucknall but that the manner in which he has been discussed and the langauge used to describe him would never be used about a woman on mnet. The comments have been written by people who, for some reason, feel it is ok to use abusive language about him, make really horrible comments about his physical appearance, repeat the kind of crap seen in the Daily Mail, and make up some nasty stories but don't know him at all.

It is double standards. If it was a woman being treated like this on mnet the same people would be shouting about that. That they even try to justify their comments and the tone of the thread is really pathetic.

I know someone whose best friend from uni met Bill Roache in a nighclub in Manchester in the 1980s. He was much younger and better looking then. I served a lot of the Manchester 80s people in a city centre shop.
