To think moulton brown is waay over rated?

Got some presents of Moulton Brown toiletries as usual from my sister - in spite of my hinting to get something else. Of course it is meant well, so I thanked her. But I don't get the love for this brand. I used the seagrass shower gel today. It is fine, but the smell is a bit meh. Really nothing special.

I like Molton Brown but there are plenty of cost-effective alternatives eg Waitrose own make lime and basil.

Somewhat more expensive but cheaper than MB, Weleda sea buckthorn.

I love Molton Brown I find Bayliss and Body Shop really drying most noticeable after a week or so.

EdWinchester · 27/12/2018 17:27

It’s not something I’d buy, but we recently stayed in a hotel where all of the toiletries were Molton Brown. Dh was using them, and I noticed how lovely he smelled!

He’s one of those types that brings them home for his gym bag. The orange and bergamot shower gel is particularly fragrant.

My dh’s great aunt loves Occitane and that’s what we always buy her for Christmas. We make her up a hamper of her favourites.

I can’t stand the smell of any of it 😳

My favourite brand of nice stuff to smell is Arran Aromatics.

Every one of their collection smell gorgeous and the diffusers last forever.

After the Rain is lovely and clean.

Couldn’t recommend their stuff highly enough!

I also think it’s overpriced. They smell lovely, but they do seem to dry my skin out. I don’t agree that Bayliss is the same - the smell doesn’t last nearly as long.

I much prefer Rituals. Half the price of MB and the body creams are so moisturising.

Bunbunbunny · 27/12/2018 17:38

I love the smell of Molton Brown shower gel but my skin doesn't as it dries it out. My Dad has bought a set for Christmas which I feel bit guilty about as it wasn't cheap & I prefer using sanctuary shower gel now!

Whatsnewwithyou · 27/12/2018 17:44

I like Arran Aromatics as well, particularly the Glen Rosa scent, and I love the Machrie bar soap which is triple milled and feels great on my skin.

I don't like Moulton Brown very much - I would use it if given to me but wouldn't buy it. It seems cheap even though it's expensive so not worth it. L'occitane is ok but again, I wouldn't buy it. The last hotel I stayed in had l'occitane products and they didn't do much for me.

My favourite shower gel for every day use is Waitrose essentials grapefruit which smells lovely and is cheap, too.

Fucking love MB but agree it is pricey. I either get as gifts or in the sales.

Sparkletastic · 27/12/2018 17:49

Brands that are worth it:

Aesop
Aromatherapy Associates
REN
Elemis

sherrysfortea · 27/12/2018 17:50

I think the candles are really really good

The other stuff is ok, smells good but not worth the cost.

SmokeGetsInYourEye · 27/12/2018 17:51

Must cosmetics are.

DaphneDiligaf · 27/12/2018 18:11

MB Orange and Bergamot reeds are the best ever. Also my favourite shower gel.

tripletrouble · 27/12/2018 18:41

Someone gave me some Molton Brown handcreams- I was really excited because I love the soap, but the hand cream gave me eczema!

Meangirls36 · 29/12/2018 12:06
