Car door damage

Jellyfish03 · 26/12/2018 15:41

I have just parked my car on a country road near a stone wall as the road was quite narrow. I asked my passengers in the back to leave the car carefully on the road side as the car was parked close to the wall. My sister ignored this and opened the car door onto the wall, scratching the paint work so it needs to be repaired. I’m so cross and annoyed. She didn’t even apologise just stormed off when I was cross with her. I think she should pay for the damaged door and apologise. My son was also in the car and got very upset. AIBU????

I’m sorry this happened , how annoying.
Although if it was my sister I’d probably just swallow it up and pay it myself .
She should have at least offered though !

You sister should apologise and pay for the repair. She’s a CF!

Why didn't you let them out before you parked?

SassitudeandSparkle · 26/12/2018 15:55

You must have parked very close to the wall, OP - as a PP said, could you not have let her out first? Was your son upset because you were cross or because your sister walked off?

Oh come on, an adult (I’m assuming this is an adult sister) is perfectly capable of following a “please be careful with the door”

Your sister is absolutely at fault and should be offering to pay for the damage
