I have seen some slippers that I may like in whitestuff! DD's thinks I am unreasonable and said they are like a Granny's! I am not a Granny although my youngest is 18 and my eldest is 24!

Obs very light hearted!

Well I’m not a granny either, but my OH bought me one of those trays with legs on for Xmas, for a eating meals in bed. Guess he’s anticipating me being infirm? I was hoping I had a few more decades of being able to eat at a table in me.

JumpingJunipersBatman · 25/12/2018 20:24

Grannys wear comfortable and sensible slippers. Sounds good to me.

JumpingJunipersBatman · 25/12/2018 20:25

But please don't pop to the shops in them!

XmasPostmanBos · 25/12/2018 20:27

I told my dd I felt old the other day and she replies "You're not old! You're middle aged."

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 20:30

Ha! I wish my daughters thought I was middle aged! I'm 50! Didn't think I was that old! just like comfort Grin

Show us the slippers. Are they tartan with pompoms?

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 20:38

No! I would love tartan

I'm older than you with DC a similar age and also not a granny. If I saw some slippers I liked in Whitestuff I'd get them and enjoy them, grannyish or not. Go for it!

paintinmyhairAgain · 25/12/2018 20:45

dd bought my first pair of doc martens boots for my birthday, always wanted some but never took the plunge. several youngsters say 'they are dead cool on someone my age and that i rock them' i'm mid 50's Grin so op go ahead and rock your slippers you owe it o yourself !

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 20:48

Grin I shall go shopping tomorrow - wish me luck!

You mightbthink you're being lighthearted, but you are actually showing that you have quitea narrow and stereotyped way of thinking.

Do you live by generalisations on a lot of things? Or just about age/appearance and requirements of females to be decorative?

Why shouidn't a shopmyou generally swerve (for whatever reason) sometimes have items you like? Remember the episode of Friends (the one wth the Pottery Barn - not the real show title) where the joke of the episode was on the one whomwasv sneery about the shop in the first place. That was of course lighthearted and well written, and showed the truth of shallow stereotyping.

KurriKurri · 25/12/2018 20:53

We need to see the slippers. I love slippers (I am old - but I loved them when I was younger as well. they are the dogs bollocks of footwear)

paintinmyhairAgain · 25/12/2018 20:56

viking everyone is entitled to their opinion but you really do sound like you've either had a rubbish day or have a stick jammed up your arse. leave the op alone and stop being so judgy she's not hurting anyone.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 20:57

@VikingVolva I have seen the Friends Pottery barn so I know where you are coming from!

Ironingboard · 25/12/2018 20:57

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 21:00

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 21:20

You can't really stick a "light hearted" disclaimer on ageism though, any more than you can stick one on racism, sexism or homophobia.

It's really not nice to mock people for being older. It's not cool.

TheFirstOHN · 25/12/2018 21:25

My best purchase this year has been an electric heat pad that warms up the foot of the bed.

I'm in my mid-forties.

mynaughtylittlesister · 25/12/2018 21:43

It was my daughter calling me a "Granny" I still like the slippers. It wasn't meant to be an agism. I was def not mocking anyone!
