DM being spiteful

Petty really, but this has wound me up. DM sent us a Christmas card and at the bottom made reference to being glad one of the DC liked her birthday present (back in June)....having already complained she hadn't received a thank-you card from DC despite DC being a toddler and despite DC having phoned to thank her for the gift the day she received it. AIBU to think this is just a passive aggressive jibe? She didn't send any Christmas presents at all. Said it was "too difficult to buy anything" not knowing what they like and what size clothes they wear despite me telling her they'd be over-the-moon with a pair of Christmas socks or a little trinket. But no, nothing at all. I don't want to think this is some sort of retaliation for not receiving a thank-you card. How mean to her GC if so. She never bought us presents for Christmas when we were kids ("couldn't afford to" apparently) but has surprised us by sending things for our DCs...until now.
Ugh...just a Christmas moan.

She's looking to rattle your cage, ignore ignore ignore.

MrsAJ27 · 25/12/2018 11:56

Your mum is being petty, ignore and enjoy your day

M00nUnit · 25/12/2018 11:57

Agreed - she sounds nasty but don't let it ruin your day.

Travisandthemonkey · 25/12/2018 12:03

Put the card in the bin and get on with your day.

ScootalooWho · 25/12/2018 14:16

Thanks. Yes, ignore is the best option.

Bin the card. She's looking for a reaction! What's she normally like?

ScootalooWho · 25/12/2018 14:48

She's normally unpleasant and we have little contact, so this behaviour isn't unexpected. It's the first time she's done it to the kids though...even if the dig is at me really.
