Please help me lovely people of Mumsnet.

I've got 9 coming for lunch.

Put the gammon on last night to slow roast but my oven didn't heat up! Think the heating element has blown but not sure. Spent ages fiddling but it's still not working and I'm out of ideas.

I need to cook a gammon , a chicken and a salmon en croute for 1pm.

I have a Panasonic convention combi microwave oven and a working hob.

Help me save my families Xmas !

Not Bracknell is it? That's usually what "Near Reading" is code for 😂 I'm nearby if it is/you need anything

When the element went on my fan oven I used it for several more years on the conventional oven setting. (Did try to get the element replaced, they claimed part not available, which I find a little unbelievable, given that it can't have been much more than ten years old.)

Hope dinner went well OP?

Magentaorwagenta · 27/12/2018 21:58

Hi haribo thanks for thinking of me, yes it went really well! Did all the veg on the hob, neighbour cooked the chicken, poached the salmon, ham on the hob and was delicious, job done. It wasn't the most beautifully presented of meals but everyone laughed and all was well. Thanks all for your help!
