Best part is when the nightmare is over.!

AGHHHH · 25/12/2018 01:44

I wish I'd gone to this! Nobody wants to bother with anything here and don't fancy going by myself. Gah

AGHHHH · 25/12/2018 01:45

Actually scrap that I went to Midnight Mass a few times as a kid and was bored out of my arse.

I'm glad I stayed in 😂

Dairyqueen2 · 25/12/2018 01:46

Cheers anyway Gin

I am with you on this Dairyqueen2.
I feel very uplifted by my visit to church (and a few glasses of bubbly).
Sitting admiring my 3 filled stockings and counting my blessings.

I went to a service at our usually staid Anglican church and it had 1) no carols 2) multiple guitars 3) bizarre music that only guitar players sang along with and 4) no choir, organ or even really minister for most of it. Shock I was relying on o little star and away in a manger etc, am devastated!

I love midnight service. I’m not a churchgoer or believer and acknowledge the hypocrisy but I love the atmosphere and feeling of goodwill.

ILoveChristmasLights · 25/12/2018 01:52

Cheers!

I don’t go to church and I can’t srand whiskey 🤣 but I’m with you in spirit.

My favourite bit is seeing their faces when the kids are old enough to understand & be excited about Christmas and still young enough to totally believe...the total awe ‘he’s been he’s been...’ love it.

Then I LOVE setting up the dolls house or building the Lego.

One child’s wrapping done, ready to do next now Blush luckily he’s 18 so not much to wrap. The rest of the family can wait until I wake up!

Alternativefacts · 25/12/2018 02:03

Waiting for 18 yr old to go to sleep so can put stocking on door! I think it will have to wait till morning!

Clarabell33 · 25/12/2018 02:06

Just finishing a mulled wine and mince pie, and enjoying the twinkly lights on the tree in utter peace and total silence. This is my perfect Christmas moment Xmas Smile

Choccywoccyhooha · 25/12/2018 02:09

I wish it was. Autistic dd can't sleep, she is too stressed about an out of the ordinary day tomorrow. But I have other children who expect a normal Christmas. I've been lying in her bed with her for 4 hours since she woke up at 10pm, and she can't get back to sleep. I would love that quiet stillness you describe, in fact I would love a day off from this.

LittleLifeRaft · 25/12/2018 02:41

It's my first Christmas with my new DP, he's got a chest infection and I've got a trapped nerve in my shoulder. We've gone to bed, he's coughing and I can't get comfortable so I'm up again. It wasn't how I envisaged spending our first Christmas together but I am so happy he is here.

Last Christmas I wouldn't have believed I'd be in a relationship now and the fact that we're both referring to this as our "first" Christmas gives me hope that this one is a keeper. There's even presents under the tree this year.
Happy Christmas MNetters Xmas Smile

Gotthetshirt23 · 25/12/2018 08:18

I went to midnight mass ....
Church was closed

SerenDippitty · 25/12/2018 08:29

For me the best part is the start of the Carols from Kings. I really feel Christmas has begun when I hear the boy soprano singing the first lines of Once in Royal David’s City.
