Just wondering what Time is the earliest your kids are allowed up?

When I was a kid I used to be bouncing on my parents bed from 5am - I don't know how they did it.

Dh said not before 6 but kind of hoping that they sleep longer as I still have loads to do.

Ds3 came in just after 5am. He did try to go back to sleep but was lying in between us whispering loudly "I am trying to sleep but it's not working I wonder if Santa has been" etc for ages. We relented just after 6am when his big brothers came hurtling down the stairs screeching :)

Neverunderfed · 25/12/2018 09:22

Now they are 8 and 6 we ask they wait until 6 to wake us. They woke earlier than that today but managed to wait until just before 6, which is fine.

Rockbird · 25/12/2018 09:37

7 and not a moment before here. They hauled us down the stairs at 7:00:01 Xmas Hmm

WhippetyStourie · 25/12/2018 09:41

7am - but allowed to peep in the living room and see if Santa’s been then go back to bed.

Escolar · 25/12/2018 09:42

The 9yo and 11yo woke just before 6. We made them wait until 6.30 before waking their big brother.

Aragog · 25/12/2018 09:45

7am

Dd is a teenager but she still gets excited and wakes early. Every other day she'd be asleep til lunchtime given a chance!

Frankswife87 · 25/12/2018 10:29

As long as it's not before 6am but of youngest dd has sen and it doesn't work that way for her if she wakes up at 5am so be it or she will scream the house down because she's starving

Fatasfook · 25/12/2018 10:30

Rules in this house is they can get up if it’s light outside.

Onatreebyariver · 25/12/2018 10:32

Gro clock normally set for 7am and we kept that for our 2 year old

For our 4 & 6 year old I let them set the gro clock for 6:30am, so 30 mins early and they opened their stockings in their room. By the time they’d finished it was 7am and the 2 year old was awake and the older ones could go to his room and help him open his.

CatLadyToddlerMother · 25/12/2018 10:47

DD is 3 so no concept of time, and isn't allowed out of her room until I go and get her anyway.

We were up at 7am today which is same as normal for a Nursery day.

Reaa · 25/12/2018 11:06

I woke mine up at 9.45am, I was too excited to wait any longer.

wish I had an air horn

Drogosnextwife · 25/12/2018 11:08

Mine didnt get up till 8.30 and didn't go to open presentd till 8.45 😂

mrsclausisdrunk · 25/12/2018 11:23

I've been awake since 4 and every other fucker is asleep! Angry

brookshelley · 25/12/2018 11:25

@CatLadyToddlerMother how do you enforce that rule?! Short of barricading her in my 3 year old will not stay in her room and no punishment or reward has been effective.

arethereanyleftatall · 25/12/2018 11:26

Mine don't wake any earlier than they usually do. Sometime between 7.30-8.30am. They're 8&10 now, but it's been like this for at least 5 years. I'm not sure why not, Cos they're definitely excited when they do. I'm not knocking it though!

SoyDora · 25/12/2018 11:27

Mine are 5 and 3, they were told not to get up before 8 but we were awake and waiting so got them up at 7.15am!

Crunchymum · 25/12/2018 11:34

Mine were up at 7:45, which ones a food considering they are young (4 and 6) and were super excited.

We wore them out well yesteday Grin

Crunchymum · 25/12/2018 11:35
  • which was good

Not sure what my phone just typed Grin

Philomensapie · 25/12/2018 11:36

They play with their stocking presents until I get up.

AnotherPidgey · 25/12/2018 11:46

It was half 4 this morning for the 5 yo when he woke me with sounds of the Santa present opening. We did get a bit of willing to try to go back to bed, but by half 5, it was time to accept that it was time to stick DVDs on to pass the time. By then the 8 yo was awake too. It would have been less painful if he had been sleepy before midnight!

Now on a school morning, at 7:45 it's like trying to raise zombie teenagers Hmm

megletthesecond · 25/12/2018 11:48

6:30.

They're 12 and 10. Two years ago they got up at 2am and Xmas was miserable, I was so tired. Now I type up a sheet of Xmas day rules and read them the riot act the day before.

Letsmoveondude · 25/12/2018 12:04

Whenever she wakes! She came downstairs at 4:40 to wake us.
Yep, we got up and went straight to presents!

neversleepagain · 25/12/2018 12:15

The Gro clock was set for 7:30 they knew not to get out of bed before that. Mine are 6

Freshprincess · 25/12/2018 12:16

Mine are teens so the rule is out of bed by 10! Otherwise it mucks up breakfast,/lunch/visiting GPS schedule.

Earliest when they were little was 4am, though they weren't allowed to go downstairs till 6. Which is why stockings are always in the bedroom. Christmas with littlies is so lovely and magical, but I can't say I miss the 5am Christmas Day starts.

delilahbucket · 25/12/2018 12:21
  1. Ds is 10 though now so him staying in bed and reading isn't as difficult a task as it used to be!
