Just wondering what Time is the earliest your kids are allowed up?

When I was a kid I used to be bouncing on my parents bed from 5am - I don't know how they did it.

Dh said not before 6 but kind of hoping that they sleep longer as I still have loads to do.

We’ve just come home from a party which was lovely.
Finished off a few bits and bobs and have all agreed we get up at 10am.
All dc (teenagers) agree!

AcrossthePond55 · 25/12/2018 01:47

Mine are adults now, but when they were little they tried to get up at 3 or 4 am! We made the rule that they had to stay in their rooms (they could play, read, watch TV but had to be quiet) until they heard Mannheim Steamroller's 'Deck the Halls' blare through the house, usually 5 or 6 am.

We still blast that song every Xmas morning if they're staying over, but now it's closer to 8 or 9!

AyoadesChinDimple · 25/12/2018 01:52

I've told ours 7. My son is in with us as we have a house full. He's usually a 5 o'clock kid so I hope he lies in a bit.

Katedotness1963 · 25/12/2018 03:13

They’re teenagers now. I’ll be lucky to see them before midday. Plus their dad is working tonight so present opening will be put off till he wakes up, so our Christmas Day probably won’t start till 3-ish.

Ragaroo · 25/12/2018 03:21

My little ds (3.5) just came into our room at 2.30am ... "Santa's been!!" Preceded to tell him we have to wait till morning.. he went back to bed bless him. Now I can't sleep lol. :(

itsstillgood · 25/12/2018 03:33

Never really thought about it as I am an early riser so I don't think there has ever been a year that I have been woken up by them (they are teens now). Usually we start making loads of noise in an attempt to wake youngest about 6.30, the rest of us have had a mug of tea and been reading for an hour by then.

AstridPeth · 25/12/2018 03:46

I wake my 4 up at 5am each year by playing Slade on the loud speaker (no close neighbours)! I can be a bit of an insomniac sometimes and one year, after being awake since about 2.30 I got bored waiting and chose to wake them up like this. That was years and years ago (they are now 16, 15, 12, 9) and they have never let me miss it since and have sworn they are doing it was their own children when they are older lol.

pinkiepie1 · 25/12/2018 06:09

Well dd has been awake for the last half hour, i think I need to let her go down before the excitement kills her.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I will probably have to wake them.

Around 11.30 am.

swimmerforlife · 25/12/2018 06:20

I've woken up as I need to tidy up a few things, neither of my two are up yet (4 & 6) thankfully. Probably by 7am they will be awake.

We are at PIL and we had a rule that no one is allowed up until 7am, although I can here my nieces rustling away. Do stockings and Santa's presents, then a casual breakfast at 8ish. After breakfast do the rest of the presents.

essexmum2019 · 25/12/2018 06:23

Mine are already awake- they've opened their stockings but we won't go downstairs until 7.

Frogletmamma · 25/12/2018 06:27

Dd is snoring. Bless.

maddening · 25/12/2018 06:39

It was 5am,.was incoherent and confused when ds woke me up, now ds is playing fifa and dh making bacon sandwiches

Roobub · 25/12/2018 06:50

Well I've been up since 02.45 with my DD... It's the 4 month sleep regression as opposed to excitement though unfortunately Grin

Kitsandkids · 25/12/2018 06:51

I’ve told mine (nearly 10 and 11) 7, but the eldest woke me up at 6 by loudly singing in his bedroom! I’ve banged on the ajoining wall to shut him up a few times since then. The baby is asleep (in bed with me) so I’m definitely holding out until 7!

DowntonCrabby · 25/12/2018 06:53

Our kids are 14 and 5, both sound asleep and likely to be until 8ish. I’ve been awake since 6, DH says I’m not allowed to go on jump on their beds 😢
Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile

SocksRock · 25/12/2018 06:55

Mine are up with their stockings but they are now playing happily so I'm dozing and messing around on my phone. Will get up to do Special Breakfast in half an hour or so. Muffins, scrambled eggs and salmon. In-laws will be here about 11 so we will start the present opening then

Angelicinnocent · 25/12/2018 07:01

Dh woke ours up at 5 with an air horn on the landing Grin. Teenagers so revenge is sweet!

ButtMuncher · 25/12/2018 07:02

DS is too young to know the concept of the actual day itself so it's BAU as far as he's concerned. He still woke at 6 though. Was hoping for a bit longer but he's in his cot singing jingle bels (he's 2.5).

DSS has been known to get up as early as 4am which was facilitated by his mum, but the eves he's here he's to stay in bed till at least 6.

ZenNudist · 25/12/2018 07:05

Well we didn't specify a time but i reckon 6-6.30 is fair game for stockings. Got a house guest in the lounge so not allowed to see what santa left until 8am. They got up at 2.30!!! Ben up and down all night. Currently 4yo is sleeping 8yo creeping about.

GnomeDePlume · 25/12/2018 07:06

Mine are 18, 20 and 23. Hopefully the smell of cooking goose will rouse them from their pits! Except for the 23 year old who will trip over her sock on the way into her room having spent the night at her boyfriend's house.

We still do Christmas socks here though the contents have changed. Not sure Santa delivered miniatures when they were younger!

Cadsuane · 25/12/2018 07:08

Eldest is 18, youngest 16. We have had one year where we got woken at 4.30 but took her in with us to let her sister sleep longer as she gets migraine if she doesn't get enough sleep. I think every other year Dh and I have had to get them up. So normally 7 am but as we are usually up at 6am this is a lie in for us.

brookshelley · 25/12/2018 07:10

3 year old wakes up at 6/6:30 AM every damned day. 1 year old easily goes until 8 or 9. So the rule is no presents until baby wakes up.

Cannot wait until DC1 is a lazy teen!

briefinterlude · 25/12/2018 07:15

My lovely step children (adults now) have always stayed at their mum's house Christmas Eve to wake up there Christmas morning.... she will still (this year too) get up at five and make as much noise as possible to wake them up to open presents! She was always more excited than they were even as kids, I love that about her - although I draw the line at waking them. I feel a bit sorry for her this year as they (3 of them) were planning to go for a few drinks together last night in the local town....so she might struggle to get much Christmas cheer out of them this morning at 5am! Unless they are just getting home of course Grin

Herja · 25/12/2018 09:08

2.45 today. Got sent back to bed. Restarted at 5.30.
