To not know how to do Christmas since I might be in labour

My due date is tomorrow and, despite all my protestations to the contrary, it seems like the baby might come on Christmas. I’ve never gone into labour naturally before so I don’t have any sense of how quickly things might progress, but contractions are fairly regular and seven minutes apart at the moment. The problem is that I have three year old twins who are very excited about Father Christmas coming tomorrow, and now I’m not sure if I’ll be here for Christmas morning. I know this is selfish but I would feel so sad to miss out on their excitement in the morning, but equally I don’t want them to wake up expecting something that hasn’t happened. My MIL and SIL will come look after them if we have to go, and I could get everything ready tonight for FC’s visit once the boys are in bed. Is there any other other way to deal with this than the two options I can currently see?

OMG Op your birth story is almost a repeat of mine except it was a hospital bath I got out off. MW flew in the door and caught LO. I didn't make it home for Christmas thought you are so lucky.

Hanab · 25/12/2018 02:29

Congrats! What an awesome gift to be blessed with 🌷 I can only imagine the delight and possibly shocked faces your boys will have when they meet her ( they were in bed when she arrived 🤔forgive me if I got it wrong) once again congrats! May I ask what you have named her?

TitusAndromedom · 25/12/2018 03:24

No name yet. We’ve got a short list, but haven’t made a decision.

We got home around 2.30am and the boys woke up to meet her (which is astonishing considering they slept straight through the actual birth). One was delighted, the other a bit confused. My favourite part was when the confused one asked where the other baby was. I guess he assumed that he and his brother would each be getting their own baby sister. I told him they would have to share.

Congratulations OP! Merry Christmas! That will be some story to tell your daughter when she is old enough. I hope your twins enjoy time with their baby sister.

Is she going to have a Christmas themed name by any chance? Grin

KonaMum · 25/12/2018 03:57

Huge congratulations OP!

It’s DH’s birthday today! She’s very lucky she decided to come just a little bit earlier as she gets a separate birthday now and amazing timing for you to be there for the twins too, how very considerate of her! 😊
