To not know how to do Christmas since I might be in labour

My due date is tomorrow and, despite all my protestations to the contrary, it seems like the baby might come on Christmas. I’ve never gone into labour naturally before so I don’t have any sense of how quickly things might progress, but contractions are fairly regular and seven minutes apart at the moment. The problem is that I have three year old twins who are very excited about Father Christmas coming tomorrow, and now I’m not sure if I’ll be here for Christmas morning. I know this is selfish but I would feel so sad to miss out on their excitement in the morning, but equally I don’t want them to wake up expecting something that hasn’t happened. My MIL and SIL will come look after them if we have to go, and I could get everything ready tonight for FC’s visit once the boys are in bed. Is there any other other way to deal with this than the two options I can currently see?

This is awesome. Huge congratulations. I love how you said you were adamant you weren’t having her on Christmas Day and you were right!

I sincerely hope that if u ever give birth it is as easy and you made it sound ‘her head popped out and then the rest of her’ brilliant! Hope you enjoy Christmas Day snuggles as a new family of 5 xx

JollyHolly30 · 25/12/2018 00:52

Actually in tears reading this.

Merry Christmas to you, your little ones dreaming of Santa, and your perfect little Christmas arrival 🥰

olderthanyouthink · 25/12/2018 00:52

Ahhh well done, I had a similar birth a bit over a month ago, DD came in the bath before ambulance could get to us after the hospital sent me home.

Have a wonderful Christmas with your DSs and DD Xmas Smile

Amazing work! I had an unattended home birth on a Mothers Day.

Your twins are going to be so happy!

endofthelinefinally · 25/12/2018 01:08

Congratulations!
I knew it!
All that talk about cleaning Grin
As soon as you said your waters had gone I thought you were well on your way.
I was about to post to say please get going and sod the cleaning, but something distracted me and I have only just checked back.
Can I just warn you that my third labour was exactly one hour.
Happy Christmas.

PoshPenny · 25/12/2018 01:12

Congratulations and well done Titus, I hope you are OK. Your boys will be amazed with their new sister. Did you manage to get their presents sorted before events overtook you? At their age, a little bit of blarney will go a long way, perhaps he was so excited by the new baby he put the presents in the wrong room/hid them in the wardrobe or something?

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 25/12/2018 01:18

Huge congratulations!!! Over the moon for you and I hope you have a magical Christmas as a family of 5!

BoswellsBollocks · 25/12/2018 01:19
