To ask what you you tell your children about how Santa gets in when you don’t have a chimney?

We never had a chimney at our childhood home and my dad always use to tell me that when you don’t have a chimney, then Father Christmas takes some roof tiles off the roof and gets in the attic and then comes through the hatch in the attic!

I remember one year when there was a really bad storm on Christmas Eve we lost some roof tiles and our attic door was blown open! It was very memorable!

What do other people tell their kids or what did your parents tell you?

Magic teleportation of course Grin

ikltownofboothlehem · 23/12/2018 20:45

We had a magic key that opens any lock. Just before bed DS would hang it on the door knocker.

Oh the magic key makes more sense than Santa the roofer!

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 23/12/2018 20:47

Back door Smile

flameycakes · 23/12/2018 20:48

He makes a magic fireplace x

m0therofdragons · 23/12/2018 20:49

He magics a chimney. My dc told me this and so we've stuck with it.

MrsStrowman · 23/12/2018 20:49

We had a chimney but in the eighties my parents had the open fireplace blocked up (philistines), they suddenly had a magic key that we would leave in the porch for santa. I think it's probaby the most common explanation, I like your DFs creativity though!

showmeshoyu · 23/12/2018 20:49

He resurrects through the floorboards when a drop of blood is spilled upon them. The more blood he gets, the more complete he becomes until he finally needs skin. Oh wait, that's Hellraiser.

NumberPerson · 23/12/2018 20:49

Father Christmas comes either through the cat flap in our house, or though the elf door.
The magic makes him and the presents tiny so they can get through Smile

Ffsnosexallowed · 23/12/2018 20:49

We leave a magic key out for him, which he helpfully posts back in through letterbox after he's locked up in his way out

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 23/12/2018 20:50

Magic key. We live in a new build and we have a magic key that we leave out for Father Christmas with the carrot for Rudolph.

fruityb · 23/12/2018 20:50

We leave a magic key out 😊 watch the Santa clause as well - that might help

purplemunkey · 23/12/2018 20:50

Magic key. You can get them in lots of places - like home bargains etc. The Santa we went to see showed our DC his magic key too. I think it's a 'thing' now as lots of newer houses don't have chimneys.

NoTeaNoShadeNoPinkLemonade · 23/12/2018 20:50

magic key here

Snowglobes · 23/12/2018 20:50

Magic.... obviously! But good magic that only Saints have. NOT blinking burglars!!!

Or you could say Hermione taught him 'Alohamora' Grin

AlbusPercival · 23/12/2018 20:53

We are staying in a hotel, Father Christmas has confirmed he has a universal key card

dementedpixie · 23/12/2018 20:53

We had a magic key too. You can buy them

MajesticWhine · 23/12/2018 20:57

We have had a conversation about this and I think we agreed on a magic key. Also DD has seen all the Santa Claus movies when Santa can shrink into a very small space so she seems satisfied with that explanation also. (Rather worryingly at the age of 8)

Dothehappydance · 23/12/2018 21:07

FC has a skeleton key that can open every door.

Lamazedragon · 23/12/2018 22:11

sky light. :)

BadgerWithSprouts · 23/12/2018 22:12

We also have a magic key
