Do you like going out out?

Went out out for the first time in years. Bar where it's to loud to hear anyone but not a dancing kind of place. Next place, freezing outside then hot, sweaty and smelly inside.

I'm basically old and miserable aren't I

I hate clubbing. I haven't been for many years and can't imagine ever going again.

I like going out to dinner with friends and having the drink and I am quite happy going to a nice pub with a band, but my ideal night out is definitely a nice meal out where I can hear myself talk.

namechangersss · 24/12/2018 00:57

I'm 19 and not a fan unless I am going out planning to get off my face due to a bad mood or what not. Could be because I only have one friend and a boyfriend!

gluteustothemaximus · 24/12/2018 01:02

Hate it.

Sick of leery letchy men. Ruins any night out.

Very happy indoors.

wildbhoysmama · 24/12/2018 01:19

This thread is so timeous. I was thinking exactly this as I massaged my aching feet from too high heels the previous night at the staff party.

The thing is, I was an absolute party queen: aclassic raver in 1988-92 in fields then out out clubbing twice a week, sometimes 3/4 times a week my entire 20s (and still once a week up until 32 and children). We travelled the length of Britain sniffing out good clubs. I even worked abroad in Greece for 2 seasons clubbing constantly those entire summers. I loved house music more than life itself.

Now, at a grand old 47, I just cannot remember what I liked about any of it! I know I was young, skinny, full of energy and cool, but why did I not spend my money on more travel/ culture/ reading books?!

The thought of it now makes me crawl into my Pjs, fluffy socks and put the kettle on! At the staff night out I was roasting hot ( tights and sequins= dripping with sweat) and although I danced and laughed I was over it all by 10pm and literally forced myself to stay until 1130! I was also asked by a young colleague if my teetotallism is because of a past alcohol problem! Is it beyond the realms of imagination that I just don't drink because I'm not keen on it, never have been?

I am resigned to being a boring, old fart, I think: (slinks off to bed, excited because there's fresh sheets!)

Drogosnextwife · 24/12/2018 01:22

Nope hate it much rather staying in. I don't mind a function type thing like a birthday party or wedding in one place, hired for the purpose but not bars or clubs. Loved it up until I met dp now I just don't see the point.

Zoflorabore · 24/12/2018 01:32

Oh god I love all of the bra haters like me!
Unfortunately I have to wear one as am rather large of bosom but it's definitely one of the reasons I hate going out out.

I spent my late teenage years in the Cavern in Liverpool, every Friday night and then somewhere else on Saturday. I then went away to university and I think I've had enough nights out to last me a lifetime.

I started going out at 15Blush and my own ds is 15 nearly 16 now and is finding that he's being invited to less parties this year as he doesn't want to drink ( good on him ) and I can't believe he's having this issue at a young age, it's like he's a social misfit!

I love being at home, pj's on, bra and jewellery off and my hair in a messy bun.
I also have fibromyalgia and take tons of meds and find that nights out interfere with my schedule, I'm in pain and I just want to go to bed. I'm 41 next month and clearly past it Grin but I don't care.

stopgap · 24/12/2018 02:56

I absolutely love it. I would say I go out out three times a year. I’m 41, for reference.

AgentProvocateur · 24/12/2018 04:49

I love going out for cocktails, dinner, then a late night bar till 3am. Preferably with some live music. But no dancing. I hate dancing. I’m 50 and there are a good few late night venues in Glasgow full of people my age.

AnnaMariaDreams · 24/12/2018 05:33

I like going out for meals. Drinks first, then a nice meal, good conversation, home to bed.
I did go to see Bjorn Again the other week and danced all night so occasionally I like a proper night out but I am usually quite boring.

JeezYouLoon · 24/12/2018 06:03

I rarely go out out, unless it's with work. I'd much rather go to friends houses or to a pub with a band on.

I absolutely love dancing but would never go to a club, I'm too old and they're too noisy. Give me live music any day.

DH and I went to what we thought was a pub with music, it was more of a bar for 20 somethings, venue was amazing, music shite and they all spent their time checking themselves out in the vast array of mirrors. It was dreadful and we completely stuck out, had a lovely chat with the bouncers though Grin

MadisonAvenue · 24/12/2018 06:15

I hate going out. We go out every few weeks to a pub and I’m so much happier when I get home.

Ollivander84 · 24/12/2018 06:17

I love it Blush
Got home at 4am last Saturday and 5am the Saturday before

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/12/2018 06:23

I don't go out at night as often as I used to but I still enjoy going clubbing and I'm 43. I like getting dressed up and going out. We go to a couple of pubs then onto a club. I sometimes go to goth or alternative themed nights.

Mummadeeze · 24/12/2018 07:11

Thanks for reminding me of that Tippexy, guess that will have to wait until she is 21 then. Maybe Mykonos or a music festival in Split or something. Really hope I still love going out in my 50s!

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2018 07:49

What has improved nights out on the rare occasions I have one, I decided when I was about 30 that I was never going to wear heels again. I just cannot wear them without burning pain so fuck it, I stopped trying. Best thing I've ever done.

Moominfan · 24/12/2018 08:56

Wonderful, I've found my people. Reoccurring theme, shitfaced it's great. Wasted youth and all. The dressing up bits great, quite happy to be a miserable minority

Hate out out! Got the tshirt when I was young and energetic but much rather staying cosy and safe at home now.
I have a marvellous group of funny and clever female friends with whom I get shitfaced and laugh until I cry, without the awfulness of being out out 😂 we meet monthly at one of our houses, cook a meal, and stay up all night drinking and laughing, then stagger home giggling through the village. Love those evenings but hate the week long hangover that follows though! No need to be Out Out to have fun.

harrypotterfan1604 · 24/12/2018 09:10

I much prefer a birthday party in a function room 😂it’s got everything I need....a bar, places to sit, food, dance floor and usually not full of sweaty drunk Pervy men!

AlwaysWantedToBeATenenbaum · 24/12/2018 10:25

I’m 35 and feel like a granny nowadays!!! I still love a good ol dance at our local 80’s club but only when it just opens as by midnight it’s packed then it’s time to go for a pizza then home!!! Me & my friends tend to go to the bingo more than anything now
