Bloody Lynx sets!

FairyDust131 · 23/12/2018 15:52

I know men have long complained about getting one of these for Christmas. But now I understand their pain.

I have been given a Lynx 'for her' set. I know I'm going to sound ungrateful but who the fuck thought women would want this?? Why is this even a thing? The scent is horrible, and Lynx is primarily a male brand.

I'd rather the £3 be donated to charity.

Send it my way. I'll use it. I got one last year and thought it was fine. I'm majorly unfussy (and very tight so like not having to buy anything myself)

Bombardier25966 · 23/12/2018 15:56

Deodorant and shower gel are useful things to have, no? I like useful presents, so they work for me.

Fridaydreamer · 23/12/2018 15:56

I like them so YABU

Bombardier25966 · 23/12/2018 15:56

And I like the male Lynx scents on me as well!

PookieDo · 23/12/2018 15:58

I used one given to DD as a version of VIPoo, it lived in the loo as an air freshener 😂

FairyDust131 · 23/12/2018 15:59

It isn't deodorant, it's body spray

When I was young it was Brut, and all the male relatives seemed to get a soap on a rope, deodorant and aftershave Grin.

Belindabauer · 23/12/2018 16:02

My dd loves the pink lynx she says it's her favourite body spray.
I don't mind my dcs getting these, they use the deodorant and shower gel.
Maybe not an adult woman gift though.

userschmoozer · 23/12/2018 16:03

I'm not fussy but you couldn't pay me to use Lynx.

AviatorShades · 23/12/2018 16:41

I read last night that Lynx was still a 'thing' to buyShock
Blast from a past that contained flashbacks of fumblings with spotty youths with green(?!) teeth driving their Dad's Escort on a Saturday night..
Good Memory - NOTGrin

oh and ps...what was that with the green teeth?

Sandbox · 23/12/2018 16:42

Green teeth?! Where did you live, never heard of that!

Joanne721 · 23/12/2018 16:43

I don`t like the male lynx as it reminds me of the dickhead i used to live with

feelingverylazytoday · 23/12/2018 17:14

I'd be happy to receive this, but if you don't like it just donate it to a food bank or refuge. Plenty of people would find it useful.

Starlight456 · 23/12/2018 17:19

My Ds (11) was wooah when he saw me wrapping a lynx gift set for my friends teen

2littleguineas · 23/12/2018 17:22

Those sets are plain daft. We can buy our own deodorant and shower gels, it's bloody amazing how we've managed to be so brain washed by consumerism that we feel the need to give this sort of thing as a gift.
The world has gone mad at Christmas, people should stop exchanging gifts except for close family/loved ones and keep and spend their hard earned money on stuff they actually like not the rubbish of gift sets, tins sweets/biscuits, that multi national companies produce year on year to line their already full pockets.
There's a reason this crap is only on sale at Christmas, people lose their good sense and panic buy.

isseywithcats · 23/12/2018 17:35

both of my grown up sons when asked by family what they want for christmas always ask for lynx sets as they say they dont have to buy them for about half of the year and last year someone bought me one of the female lynx sets and it was quite nice smelling

werideatdawn · 23/12/2018 17:52

I like stuff like that. My aunt sent a hamper with face wipes, moisturisers, shower gels, even some deodorant. All useful, saves me buying it for a bit and much more appreciated than something random I wouldn't use.

Why would they have green teeth?

CloserIAm2Fine · 23/12/2018 18:21

Donate it to a homeless charity or food bank

Or regift it

NerrSnerr · 23/12/2018 20:10

We can buy our own deodorant and shower gels,

Isn't that the same for everything someone buys you. There's no point in getting anyone a gift as they can get it themselves.

I like gift sets like that. I also got a set of impulse body spays last year and I'm just using up the last one.

Ownerofalittlechimp · 23/12/2018 20:16

Traditional Christmas gift in our house from ds’s to dh, along with character pants! Always gets used too.

KnightlyMyMan · 23/12/2018 20:26

Omg this made me giggle! Same thing just happened to me!

I just stood there like 😬 awesome

Who the hell would want ‘lynx for her’ 😂😂😂😂

Eemamc · 23/12/2018 20:29

I’m sure a food bank would be grateful for these if you don’t want them

2littleguineas · 23/12/2018 20:56

My point was that deodorant and shower gel is an every day basic that we have to buy.
I'm sure there are some people who like those sets but there's many more who would rather choose their own brand and rather than exchange unwanted Christmas gifts, would prefer that they and the people they give/receive token gifts from, keep their money and use it on items they themselves want.

BollockingBaubles · 23/12/2018 21:09

My 14 year old dd will only use the for her shower gel and deodorant.

It's like gold dust in shops jan-Oct because they can't be bought separately and only come together in a set (i emailed them in 2017 asking if they were available separately anywhere) so I've gotten her three sets for Xmas, and some family members have gotten her a set too. Cheap gift and something she loves. 😀
