To complain to tesco about date

So I've just had my Tesco delivery. And I pre ordered the turkey and desserts.

The chocolate desserts which I paid £20 are out of date xmas eve.

Should I complain? Are the pre orders supposed to have a date until xmas day? Im not sure.. Never pre ordered the christmas entertaining food before..

Amazonian... She's on about a chilled dessert not a turkey

You don’t need to go to social media for God’s sake.
Just contact customer services.
It’s what they do!

I don't think we need a food science professor to confrm that eating a pudding a few hours after the use by date isn't dangerous, some people are being a tad dramatic imo.

I don’t understand why people choose to have their Christmas food shop delivered. The risk of food going out of date too soon or items not being delivered- it’s just not worth the added stress. The supermarkets aren’t busy all day every day this time of year.

For Christ sake you'll be eating the puddings only 15 hours or so after the best by date, it's not rocket appliances just eat them.

I get mine delivered because I have 3 small children and live in a first floor flat. I can't carry all the bags and the children in one go and they are too young to be left in the car or the flat. There is a lift and Tesco have a trolley that they wheel straight into my kitchen so I can unload. I do get deliveries every week though so I don't just do it at Christmas but I did check the 3 puddings I ordered on arrival as I wasn't going to accept dates before 25th as I added to the picker notes on all 3 items.

Amazonian27 · 23/12/2018 10:13

OP might have visitors coming on Christmas Day boxing or the day after and may not want to serve out of date puddings depending what it is incase it tastes off or upsets someone’s stomach so she will probably have wanted longer use by dates on her food (especially if she put notes on for pickers to read). I don’t think she would be posting here if it wasn’t an issue/annoying.

I've had the same thing. Pre-ordered a special Xmas thing which you could only order within set dates and for the latest pre-Christmas slot I could book. Stupid me assumed that since it was clearly intended as a Christmas meal it would be good for Christmas but it's use by 24th. I'm just going to eat it on the 25th anyway. Sure it'll be ok. It did say, on checking, that it had a 3-day use by. To add to the frustration when I went to book a post-Christmas delivery yesterday there were lots of delivery slots available for today! I just couldn't book a delivery today at the same time as ordering the special Christmas food. A bit frustrating.

Is the 24th a Use By or a Best Before date? If BB definitely no problem eating it on 25th and if UB then it's likely to be safe too just hours later.
