To ask for advice re Camel Toe

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 11:53

So I've recently joined a gym and bought loads of new gym gear. Only problem is that the leggings are of such a material and tight nature that no matter how low or high I pull them up I always end up with a camel toe.
I've tried neatly folding up tissue and putting it in the front of my knickers. That doesn't work.
So I'm calling on MN for ideas about how to get rid of it once and for all. I don't particularly have a big downstairs area so I am sure it's just the gym clothes.
All suggestions however wild will be experimented with and reported back on. I'm sick of walking into the gym with what can only resemble a sugar puff stuffed down my knickers.
All ideas welcome!

So far we have:
Grow a massive bush to hide said CT
Sanitary towel folded horizontally
Fanny 'shoehorn'
Cereal box and sticky tape
Go commando
Wear tights underneath
Wear 2 pairs of leggings
Decorate it with tinsel
Draw a smiley face on it
Stick a cat sticker over it
Cut up a nappy and stick it in my pants
A jock strap.

I knew I could rely on you beauties to help my situation! 🤣

Do not buy the smooth groovethat's to make you look like you have a camel toe!It looks like some guys buy it to get that look,go figure Confused

Braza women's camel nothelps hide a camel toe,and no I've not used it so I can't vouch for it, I just googled it for you OP.

The4thSandersonSister · 22/12/2018 12:51

The main cause is improper fit. www.paragonfitwear.com/blogs/news/avoid-camel-toe-in-leggings

AhoyDelBoy · 22/12/2018 12:51

@LuluJakey1

Bernard Good idea, and a bell. If OP wore a crown as well she could be one of the Three Kings arriving in Bethlehem. Their camels had toes.

I think this is the funniest comment I’ve ever read on MN Xmas Grin

ohtheholidays · 22/12/2018 12:52

You know you now have to try all of those tips out and share with us your success and if we see reports on the news about the poor women that was arrested for showing of and decorating her camel toe in public Grin

greyedging · 22/12/2018 12:55

I don't particularly have a big downstairs area

This is the comment that struck me. What does a big downstairs area look like? I have literally never heard this before. We never had this self consciousness/comparisons about our 'downstairs areas' when I was a young woman.

Camel toe is a relatively recent thing too, I think. Has it come about because younger women get rid of their pubic hair?

TheDogAteMySock · 22/12/2018 13:09

Can you wear it so the seam is off to one side...sort of dress to the left? So you are not being split up the middle?

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 13:12

I was wondering when it became a big thing. Maybe it is with the rise of shaving your bits?

If you're usually a 6 have you tried sizing up to an 8 in gym gear?

HappenstanceMarmite · 22/12/2018 13:12

Some nice catty “my vag is better than your vag” remarks here 🙄

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 13:25

I think it's the seams on them. I've just pulled them all of out the wardrobe to test the cereal box theory and there are seams down the middle of them all 😫
I think what I should do is size up to an 8 (I just don't like them baggy around my knees I have very knobbly ones) and see if that helps. My bf is going to be very pissed off he's just forked out on 6 pairs of leggings at £40 each! I've already worn them all too. Ooops.

Ahoy Thanks- nicest thing anyone has said to me this week apart from DS telling me he loves me because 'you are a squishy mummy' Grin

callmeadoctor · 22/12/2018 13:42

Gonna have to say it............. why on earth has your bf bought you 6 pairs at £40 each? Who needs 6 pairs?

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 13:45

@callmeadoctor because he's an absolute idiot and couldn't choose which ones I would like the most.
If it was up to me I'd have gone to primark for them. 😂

I was thinking thay!! 6 pairs of expensive leggings without knowing they fit is a bit crackers.

Also wondering if your focus has turned to excessive exercising (I also have an ED.) Is he enabaling?

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 13:47

@JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi this is completely ok to wonder but it's nothing to do with trying to stay slim, it's more about keeping fit and healthy and being in touch with my body and what it needs and wants. The last year I've been in recovery has been the best of my life. I've learnt to love how I look now and I want to remain this way which is why I've joined the gym with him. I've discussed with my therapist and ED team and all are on board. I'm limiting myself to 3 workouts a week.

Wow it sounds like youre doing fantastic!! Well done Flowers. I know what a hard year that must have been and brilliant you're working with your team. Yay for going into 2019 :)

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 22/12/2018 14:01

It doesn't mean you're not a size six - it means they don't fit you properly. Sizing up might not help if it's the overall style that doesn't suit your body shape.

I'd just get a different style Smile

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 22/12/2018 14:02

(Ie; a size eight won't necessarily be better, just bigger)

OliviaStabler · 22/12/2018 14:03

Codpiece anyone?

Did anyone else read that and think Word Up?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/12/2018 14:12

I have at least 6 pairs of gym leggings callmeadoctor. I work ft and go to the gym every evening after work. Sometimes I manage to do my laundry mid week, sometimes I don't. If I didn't have 6 pairs of leggings I would have to skip a class or pull dirty leggings out of the washing basket.

Leggings without the triangular crotch will give you camel toe. I have some cycling knickers (ie padded crotch) that I sometimes wear under cheaper leggings and there's no CT issue.

Gymwear comes up very small in some brands. It's worth sizing up if you aren't comfortable.

Propertywoe · 22/12/2018 14:21

Have you anyone you can ask for their honest view who you trust. I know that my DD who has been in recovery for two years still sees her body differently to what other see. Especially with clothes outside her comfort zone, whilst she has bought crop tops and shorts there is always a reason in her mind why they do not look good on her. You are doing amazing having such a positive year.

blueskiespls · 22/12/2018 14:23

@DarcieStarlight the gymshafk leggings I have don't even have a seam in between legs. Just smooth continuation of material... if that's makes sense! All my other leggings have a gusset that is sort of petal shaped rather than just a seam in the middle. Does that make sense HmmGrin
