To ask for advice re Camel Toe

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 11:53

So I've recently joined a gym and bought loads of new gym gear. Only problem is that the leggings are of such a material and tight nature that no matter how low or high I pull them up I always end up with a camel toe.
I've tried neatly folding up tissue and putting it in the front of my knickers. That doesn't work.
So I'm calling on MN for ideas about how to get rid of it once and for all. I don't particularly have a big downstairs area so I am sure it's just the gym clothes.
All suggestions however wild will be experimented with and reported back on. I'm sick of walking into the gym with what can only resemble a sugar puff stuffed down my knickers.
All ideas welcome!

It does depend on the leggings. I try some on and have this issue and won't buy them. All the ones I own don't have this issue with. Not sure if that's due to a better fit, or thicker material. But yes long tops are your friend.

BrendasUmbrella · 22/12/2018 12:20

It sounds like the leggings aren't that great quality?

Lazypuppy · 22/12/2018 12:21

Longer top

Dotty1970 · 22/12/2018 12:22

Longer t shirt and they are probably But small too

MoveOnTheCards · 22/12/2018 12:23

You just need better workout gear. Better quality fabric or design.

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 12:23

They're high waist gym leggings designed to be worn with a gym bra/top. So you can't really pull them down to hip level as they have detailing on the banding. They are of good quality and not cheap to buy.
They are fine when I leave the house, it's just once I've done a bit of a run or I've been on the leg machines that's when it starts to happen.
I would wear a longer top to cover but that defeats the object of the nice stuff I've bought.
It's my own fault for seeing gorgeous girls and celebrity's on Instagram in the gym looking amazing in their little cute clothes and me thinking I could also look like that 😂
I'm going to google the horn thing. I'm also going to go test the panty liner folded around my knickers!

They are too small for you. This is not something that just happens with all gym gear. It's something that just happens with gym gear that's too small.

kmc1111 · 22/12/2018 12:24

Panty liner or thin pad wrapped horizontally around the front of your underwear, so you get 3 extra layers between your pants and your flaps.

Proper shapewear style underwear (the thick, reasonably structured kind not the thin stretchy kind) will also fix it, but will likely create a ‘visible panty line’ issue, so that’s a trade-off.

If it’ll work with what you have, some longline tank tops you can layer under your other tops/jackets are the easiest solution.

Salomon running tights and a long line Nike racer back vest. Should sort you out

LuluJakey1 · 22/12/2018 12:26

A triangular piece of disposable nappy, appropriately cut out and placed might work.

I doubt any of those would be comfortable during a workout but please report back if it's fine.

I like anti-gravity workouts so spend a fair amount of time upside down and tend to prefer high-waisted leggings with stirrups to keep my stomach area covered.

LuluJakey1 · 22/12/2018 12:27

Perhaps you could knit or crochet an appropriate garment?

TheOrigBrave · 22/12/2018 12:28

What is the make of this gym gear?

I am a runner so if I'm in the gym I'm wearing running tights, which are quite thick. No CT.

Do yours have a seam that splits you in two? Most good quality sports wear replaces that seam in that area with a sort of gusset, which also allows you to go commando.

I do have some tiny shorts which I think give me CT, but I don't actually care. Mens' sports gear often leaves nothing little to the imagination so I don't see why I should worry that people might see the shape of me. It's hardly news that I have an arse.

LuluJakey1 · 22/12/2018 12:29

How about a piece cut out of a cornflakes packet and covered in sticky-back plastic a la Blue Peter?

woodhill · 22/12/2018 12:31

Could you wear shorts over them or a longer top over crop top

morningperson · 22/12/2018 12:35

Darcie, i just put one or two of those really slim panty liners in my underwear. this happens with some of my gym leggings but not others, (think its my 'bits' rather than the leggings cos i always buy decent ones and correct size). but try it cos it works. A big baggy Tshirt might just make you feel more self conscious cos you'll be worried constantly making sure its still covering you. you'll be fine.

DarcieStarlight · 22/12/2018 12:35

For those saying my gym gear is clearly too small, they aren't- I'm a size 6 and I've bought a size 6. The brands are Gym King, Gym Shark, Nike, Adidas.
I absolutely love the cereal box idea. It's a certain contender.

IfNotNowBernard · 22/12/2018 12:35

Put some tinsel on it.

Alarae · 22/12/2018 12:37

I'm genuinely confused as this has never happened to me.

So you have the leggings that just have a single split seem at the crotch as opposed to the triangle seams that prevent this?

I thought most good quality gym leggings did the triangle seam to prevent CT..

It's either the seam or sorry to say, you've been ambitious with your legging size!

LuluJakey1 · 22/12/2018 12:38

Bernard Good idea, and a bell. If OP wore a crown as well she could be one of the Three Kings arriving in Bethlehem. Their camels had toes.

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 22/12/2018 12:40

I know (since reading mn) that people go commando in sports gear but the whole idea of that makes me shudder

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 22/12/2018 12:40

Shorts over the top if you refuse to buy a bigger size. I own numerous pairs of gym leggings names o the brand above and don’t have this issue 🤷‍♀️

Dahlietta · 22/12/2018 12:43

Rudgie47 · 22/12/2018 12:44

You might be one of those people that think they are a size 6 but are really a size 16! They sound too small for you, just get the next size up.
I'm a size 18ish and I've got all sorts of running leggings and cycling shorts etc and I've never had that.

Otherwize you could stick a rolled up pair of socks down there, that would be a distraction and give people something to talk about.
