AIBU to tell DH I’ve decided not to buy cheese and biscuits this year

Because there is always so much food around at Christmas ( thanks to MiLs very generous Christmas and Boxing Day spreads which provide us with leftovers for days and we always end up stuffing ourselves) only to weaken going past all the lovely cheeses in the supermarket and end up having a shelf full of cheese in the fridge?

I wish I could help myself, I KNOW that we will all eat far too much over the Christmas period and at some point we will look at each other and agree we shouldn’t have bought the cheese and biscuits. I manage to survive on just cheddar the rest of the year so why do I feel an uncontrollable need to have at least five different cheeses in the fridge at a time when we also have the most food, cake and nibbles around?

Doidontimmm · 18/12/2018 19:16

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 19:17

My boxing night is cheese n wine and christmas tv i would be Xmas Sad if dh said no cheese.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 18/12/2018 19:17

Yabu. Cheese is one of my favourite things about Christmas.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 19:17

Cheese with bits in, or tasting like fudge or whatever isn't cheese, it's an imposter.
It's nasty and does not enter my home.

maddiemookins16mum · 18/12/2018 19:17

We buy 1 extra (different) cheese and some extra crackers. If not opened it’s bound to be ok for another few weeks. Compromise, buy some but not as much.

juneybean · 18/12/2018 19:17

But but but cheese?

mushlett · 18/12/2018 19:18

It’s all about the cheese 🧀

Dextrodependant · 18/12/2018 19:18

Your husband would be well within his rights to LTB.

Cheese is the meaning of Christmas... you know the birth of baby Cheesus

YANBU to make a change this year. It will still be available next year, as it is made in God's Own Country and other parts of the UK.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:19

And a wheel of Stilton is actually compulsory. I believe Oliver Cromwell made a decree about it. With walnuts.

It’s actually against the law not to eat cheese at Christmas. It was never repealed due to him having his head lobbed off.

Fact(ish) 🧀

MadgeMak · 18/12/2018 19:19

YABU to not buy cheese and biscuits, it's Christmas law.

RaininSummer · 18/12/2018 19:19

This is a crime against humanity as cheeses and biscuits in their many guises is the best part of the festive season and it is marvellous if the are still hanging around in January.

KittyClaus · 18/12/2018 19:20

I only have cheddar for the kids in the house the rest of the year. Between December 24 and January 2 I eat random exotic cheese probably for two of every three meals a day. You know the woman on the American Beauty poster covered in rose petals? That’s me with cheese.

YABmassivelyU (but in the plus side, more cheese for me)

ZenNudist · 18/12/2018 19:20

I bought ten tonne of the stuff yesterday. Its work to roule in this house.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:20

Only ten?

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 19:20

I don't get cheese with bits in either apricots and the like (bleurgh)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:20

Or random green bits. 🤢

pinklemonade84 · 18/12/2018 19:21

yabvvvvu
even if you only get a small selection of cheese, as you’ll probably miss it if you don’t buy it Xmas Wink

Sweetpea55 · 18/12/2018 19:21

Cheese is law

WeeMadArthur · 18/12/2018 19:23

I’d like to clarify for those worried about us having a cheeseless Christmas that I have already weakened and bought the cheeses even though I said I wouldn’t and DH agreed with me. I was more worried that I would get responses telling me how greedy I was to buy cheese on top of everything else we will be eating, but I can see that isn’t going to happen!

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 19:24

What are those random green bits, chives?

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 19:24

Oooh, pickled walnuts with a really mature cheddar.
Dd is moaning that the fridge stinks because I've been ripening a camembert in it for weeks, that baby will run.

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 19:24

A h Christmas is saved
