AIBU to tell DH I’ve decided not to buy cheese and biscuits this year

Because there is always so much food around at Christmas ( thanks to MiLs very generous Christmas and Boxing Day spreads which provide us with leftovers for days and we always end up stuffing ourselves) only to weaken going past all the lovely cheeses in the supermarket and end up having a shelf full of cheese in the fridge?

I wish I could help myself, I KNOW that we will all eat far too much over the Christmas period and at some point we will look at each other and agree we shouldn’t have bought the cheese and biscuits. I manage to survive on just cheddar the rest of the year so why do I feel an uncontrollable need to have at least five different cheeses in the fridge at a time when we also have the most food, cake and nibbles around?

DH already bought all the cheese. DCs complaining about stink in fridge. We are cheesed up till new year at least. I figure it's just once a year.

Travisandthemonkey · 18/12/2018 19:06

I think you need to go and see a therapist. This is seriously strange behaviour

ErrolTheDragon · 18/12/2018 19:06

Doesn't everyone IRL just have cheese, chutney and biscuits on Xmas evening?Confused

Whisky2014 · 18/12/2018 19:06

I came home the other day with 2 bags of shopping. One was full of cheeses!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:07

No Cheesybiscuits? None? Not ever a bit of mousetrap and a Jacobs cracker. 😵

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:07

I’m so traumatised I’m going to have to make myself up a selection of cheese and crackers (and honey) to calm down.

Oysterbabe · 18/12/2018 19:08

You are being unreasonable.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 19:08

Oh no.
No.
No no no no no.
I've currently got 12 types of cheese and more are ordered, it's Christmas, it's all about the cheese.

Athena51 · 18/12/2018 19:08

YABVVVU it's not Christmas without a selection of cheeses, biscuits and chutneys Xmas Smile

Bluearsedfly36 · 18/12/2018 19:09

YABU

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:10

@IHaveBrilloHair I’ll get my coat...

Hofuckingho · 18/12/2018 19:10

You have to have cheese, it's the law.

DeadDoorpost · 18/12/2018 19:10

I think my DH would consider divorce if I refused to get cheese and crackers. His love for cheese is very close to his love for me. 😂😂

Although, he'd go out and get the cheese himself if I didn't do it. Only time he's happy to shop...

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 19:12

What weird people don't eat cheese?
Cheese is life.

Inertia · 18/12/2018 19:12

Get the cheese, bin off the Double Deckers.

OftenHangry · 18/12/2018 19:13

You monsterShock

Cheese with a side of 3 different kinds of cheese. Hmmmmmmmm.

WeeMadArthur · 18/12/2018 19:13

You have all made me feel so much better about my inability to refrain from cheese and biscuits at Christmas. And now if DH notices the pile of lactose loneliness on the top shelf I can happily say that Mumsnet had taken a collective gasp of horror at the thought of us surviving the festive season without our beloved cheese and biscuits.

AppleKatie · 18/12/2018 19:13

We’re eating at relatives most of Christmas. I’m going to the shops for cheese, chocolate, croissants and wine. All essential things even if not actually celebrating the bulk of the time/meals in ones own home 😃

yerdadsellsavon · 18/12/2018 19:14

Yanbu cheese is disgusting bleughEnvy

DuggeeHugs · 18/12/2018 19:14

Don't be that person Xmas Shock

At a minimum you need cheddar, stilton, brie, the crumbly white one with the miscellaneous fruit in it and one with a green wax coat on in case it rains in your fridge.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/12/2018 19:14

😡

MrsJayy · 18/12/2018 19:14

Cut back on something else like cake cos you know cheese n biscuits are better

WeeMadArthur · 18/12/2018 19:15

Although the mad ‘Christmas’ cheese - with apricot or cranberry bleuch - it a travesty.

PhilODox · 18/12/2018 19:16

'D'H has already eaten the biscuits and crispbreads I got in... Hmm
Tempted not to replace them and cancel the cheese off the Christmas delivery!
