AIBU to have the TV on all day long

I literally turn it on when we get up and then I have it on all day long. I'm at home with my 10 month old and I use it for company. The radio or podcasts just don't have the same comfort for me, despite being more interesting Hmm

Am I alone?

Play music. My mum used to put my brother's carrycot on top of the radiogram, he turned out to be a musician Smile

I find this dreadfully sad.

It really can't be good for young children to continually have this stimulus.

I would find it weird to have it on during the day time - here it never goes on before the evening when we can sit and watch it.

The only time I ever came across this was on visiting a potential childminder for DS1. The TV was on even when we were talking to her about possibly taking on DS despite the fact it wasn't a children's program and no one was watching it. Needless to say we didn't send DS there.

I have the radio on in the same way in the morning, TV later on if I'm home-less so than I used to just because our house is laid out less open plan than our old one so I wouldn't really here the TV much between rooms. Until bed when I read for an hour to so. Tv and radio are just background noise whilst I go about my day really. I don't see why it would be an issue.
When my Mum comes round she turns everything off-she doesn't like any background noise at all. It drives me mad!

I do this too when I’m in , it’s just a natural reflex to turn the tv on when I’m home even if I don’t watch it and dd is at school

I can't stand silence, even when I have a migraine I need very low level sound in a dark room. I don't like audio books and hate listening to radio with djs inane chatter and talking over songs.

I've always had the TV on in the background while cleaning/tidying/ironing etc. When the dcs were little I'd put blue planet or programmes about space on. They rarely sat watching TV it was just on in the background while we played games. It doesn't seem to have done them any harm now they're older and all doing well at school. Now they're at school I put box sets on Netflix so there's no annoying adverts.

I can't see the difference between having the TV on for sound and having the radio on or music/audio books.

If I’m at home with the kids I have mine on more for background noise, if I’m home alone or with my OH I only have the tv on if I/we are specifically watching something

TV addiction has been beaten so far Star Spotify all day and TV on at 4 to watch god awful but I love it Tipping Point and The Chase
