My almost 8 year old daughter who is on the ASD spectrum but high functioning has some communication and quite a lot social issues...can I ask which authors/books would you lovely ppl recommend? Something which touches on 8 year old girl friendship issues. Like Jacqueline Wilson type books except, we already have books from this author and found quite a lot of them a just that little bit too old/complex for her.
She is having a very difficult time at school and chats are not helping. Nor does she alert school when issues arise. Help books aimed at her age groups are discarded as she loses interest. I'm hoping books which deal with how characters deal with bully behaviour and come out strong will get through to her in some way. So please, if you have recommendations please can you share. TiA!
