Are you organised? Everywhere you go - doesn't matter where. Has any man ever been asked this. It's getting on my wick now.

Nenic · 17/12/2018 20:03

My DH got asked when picking up the takeaway tonight

user1473878824 · 17/12/2018 20:04

.....no shop assistant has ever asked me that, why would they?

Thentherewascake · 17/12/2018 20:05

I don't even understand what that is supposed to mean, I don't think anyone has ever asked me that - at least in that context.

Shitonthebloodything · 17/12/2018 20:05

We don't really care, we're just trying to make polite conversation. We ask what you think of the weather or where you're going on holiday the rest of the year and that's boring as shit too.

kittypop · 17/12/2018 20:06

Seriously? No one has ever asked if you are organised for Christmas? I get it all the time.

OP posts:
LittleAlbatross · 17/12/2018 20:07

I'm assuming it's about Christmas? Pretty sure DH doesn't get asked it as often as I do.

BumDisease · 17/12/2018 20:07

"We don't really care, we're just trying to make polite conversation. We ask what you think of the weather or where you're going on holiday the rest of the year and that's boring as shit too."

I came here to say this.

Unfortunately management/head office think that customers want us to make small talk/"build rapport" with them so we need to pretend to be interested in stuff like this. It has nothing to do with you being a woman, OP. We couldn't care less.

User10fuckingmillion · 17/12/2018 20:07

It’s called being polite 🙄

cardibach · 17/12/2018 20:07

I’ve heard ‘ready for Christmas’ never ‘organised’. And neither from anyone I don’t actually know.

PuppyMonkey · 17/12/2018 20:08

I am very organised but nobody has ever asked me if I am.Sad

kittypop · 17/12/2018 20:08

Also, when someone asks what I'm doing for Christmas - feel a bit inadequate saying just family and my mum as usual. It's like a competition - oh, just a quiet one then, I'm having 15 this year!

OP posts:
Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 20:08

Are u organised tho?

BreakYourselfAgainstMyStones · 17/12/2018 20:08

It's inane chatter, we don't really care. We get the same questions and comments day after day about our jobs too, it's called being friendly and passing the time of day.

AGHHHH · 17/12/2018 20:09

Men are asked this, I've been asked it a few times [santa]

OrgyofSausages · 17/12/2018 20:09

Wow OP the Christmas spirit is alive and kicking in your gaff eh? Hmm

kittypop · 17/12/2018 20:10

PuppyMonkey you'll have to ask first to make yourself smug in comparison Wink

OP posts:
MrsMartinRohde · 17/12/2018 20:10

Ha, the anaesthetist who put me under for my hernia repair surgery on Friday asked me this. Right before he put the drugs in.

TinselAndKnickers · 17/12/2018 20:10

I echo BumDisease - who’s username also made me grin!

stabulous · 17/12/2018 20:11

Don't be shit to retail workers or folks working customer facing jobs, especially around this time of year. They are under a horrible amount of pressure to be nice, even when inside it feels like they want to run away and hide from it all.

kittypop · 17/12/2018 20:11

Bigonesmallone3 I am organised thank you. Do everything online - except for the bits and bobs - doesn't take a lot of effort Grin

OP posts:
halfwitpicker · 17/12/2018 20:11

What? Organised?

kittypop · 17/12/2018 20:13

For all you Christmas Grinch people out there, my post is supposed to be lighthearted. Didn't realise such an inane statement could cause offence!

OP posts:
Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 20:14

@kittypop
Ur supposed to ask me back

twattymctwatterson · 17/12/2018 20:14

You mean the plebeians actually SPEAK to you? Heaven forbid

Weetabixandshreddies · 17/12/2018 20:14

I work in the service industry and I'm being asked about 200 times a day by my customers too if that redresses the balance OP? It's just small talk, meant to pass the time of day. Maybe pretend to be on your phone at the checkout? That stops the assistant talking to you.
