I've booked a slot for Dec 19th for my asda order - will I get all my food?

Light hearted

It includes things like Brussels and parsnips. I know I'll have time to pick them up but would rather not Confused

Good luck! I gave up on Asda deliveries when they consistently failed to deliver everything, and either sent nothing or rather silly substitutions. I've just given up on Ocado too, after they phoned me 2 days running this week to ask whether I really wanted all the booze in my order (which I did, but have now cancelled) - and the second time they - who had phoned me - said they couldn't discuss the account as I was not the named person on it (it's my Dad, I'm his 24/7 carer). I felt like I was being accused of being some kind of Russian spy wanting to talk about groceries with someone who sounded like they were 16 and reading from a script!

So yeah, hope it all arrives - I've split mine between Waitrose and Tesco now - deliveries on the 21st and 23rd, which gives me time to adjust the 'second coming' if the first fails to deliver!

FittonTower · 17/12/2018 17:30

I've never used Asda but my christmas Morrison's delivery has never had anything missing, I've very rarely had substitutions from them although they do show stuff as "sold out" on the website sometimes.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/12/2018 17:33

Asda are who I use most and I find them really good.
I've a delivery coming with them on Wednesday, then a Tesco on Friday, back up with Asda on Sunday if needed.

Celebelly · 17/12/2018 17:41

I've never had anything important missing from Christmas online shops. One year, though, they replaced our little turkey crown for two with a turkey to feed about 12-14 Grin. It barely fit in our oven. We ate a lot of turkey that week.

DragonMamma · 17/12/2018 17:44

I always do online but I’ve had such bad experiences at Christmas time (with Asda and Tesco) that I don’t leave it to chance. I would think you’ll be OK with a 19 December delivery though.

I have 23 December but I ordered al my booze and veg and had it delivered this weekend. The rest will be optional extras as turkey is from the butchers.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/12/2018 18:08

I already have the cheese and booze, it keeps.

KimchiLaLa · 17/12/2018 19:44

I have everything including the turkey (crown, it's been frozen), but this order has the cheese and all the veg apart from potatoes. I'd rather not brave the big Tesco near me that week.

No.

Because: ASDA.

bobstersmum · 17/12/2018 19:55

I had asda booked for Xmas eve years ago. Everything came but the turkey! No substitute! I was off work ill at the time definitely couldn't go out and I basically cried. Then I rang the store and spoke to the manager and he promised he would bring one on his way home, and he did! I could have kissed him.

EmUntitled · 17/12/2018 19:56

I don't see why not, surely they will have planned ahead and have extra stock of things like parsnips? If it was christmas eve delivery, there might be a few things missing but if they have run out on Friday they would be in trouble over the weekend when lots of people will do their big shop.

You might get a few subs (e.g. big bag of parsnips instead of small) but I don't think you would get nothing.

Also if there are 1 or 2 items you could just pick them up from a local convenience shop.

anniehm · 17/12/2018 19:57

Call me crazy but I have preordered for collection from Morrison's on Christmas Eve. Everything with longer shelf lives has already been bought though and going Friday for weekend food

BrexitDestruction · 17/12/2018 19:57

I've always had no problems with my Asda Christmas deliveries, plus you have enough time you can nip to the shops if necessary. You'll get the email of subs early on too.

Princessmushroom · 17/12/2018 21:46

I can’t get a decent Asda order when it’s not Christmas so good luck!

I remember a friend ordered a turkey and Asda delivered a peri peri chicke 😂

Taffeta · 17/12/2018 21:50

My Ocado delivery is 24 Dec

If any of it’s not there I’ll either do without, or, shock:horror go to a shop

Most of it will prob be half price at the shop Grin

CheshireChat · 17/12/2018 21:52

I'd be weary as Asda failed to deliver our normal order altogether- system glitch in our case.

Depends which Asda will be packing your order really, I'd be more likely to use them if I could assign my local one to sort it.

Crunchymum · 17/12/2018 21:57

I have Sainsbury's coming on 23rd (early) so I can go out for anything that doesn't turn up.

That said I am going to M&S for our meat, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets and dessert so it will only be the veg that I'm waiting for on 23rd (and the wine!!). Plus the normal food shopping!

And yes whilst I know I could make my own stuffing and Yorkshire puddings, I would actually rather make life a bit easier for myself. I do roasties properly though, no shortcuts there!!

wombatron · 17/12/2018 22:01

@Crunchymum I've done exactly the same st M&S - down to gravy. Just sprouts, spuds and snips to do on the day which is relaxing! All the other trimmings are bought!

KimchiLaLa · 18/12/2018 22:11

Last week they delivered an order two hours late so my baby was sleeping when they did it. I was in a rush to get them out so didn't check things properly. The next morning I realised they had forgotten a whole bunch of items - crumpets, bread, fruit bread, eggs. I think the driver just forgot them in the van.

So, in case anyone was wondering, EVERYTHING but the cream cheese arrived, which they subbed for low fat cream cheese. The biggest issue was that first the driver came at 3.45 (over an hour before the slot we booked and when I was at work!) and then didn't turn up until 8pm when we told him through the doorbell to come back (an hour late!). There was absolutely no update on this despite me calling them - they couldn't even tell me where my order was!

They've given us £10 as an apology but we will be switching to Tesco next year.

Glad you got everything. I’ve given up online Christmas shopping since 2 years ago with Sainsburys when i was amending my order and things started dropping out of my shopping basket because they were ‘out of stock’. Was sooo frustrating.

MrsChollySawcutt · 22/12/2018 14:26

Ocado order coming this evening. Just had the email to say everything coming with just 2 minor subs - free range eggs for another sort of free range egg and one brand of brioche for another.

Happy days.

Whataboutbobbo · 22/12/2018 15:26

They have just messed up the turkey order I put in. Never buying from them again.

wombatron · 23/12/2018 11:42

Custard and bread flour were the only casualty this end! I'm chuffed!
