Vomit smell...

LMW1990 · 17/12/2018 08:16

On Saturday night my DSS projectile vomited all over the landing and down the stairs.

The smell. Oh the smell!

DP did most of the cleaning up as I was too busy retching and trying not to add to the situation.

Since then I have washed the carpet and walls by hand, frebreezed to within an inch of its life, lit candles, used my steam mop carpet attachment....

And I can still smell it!

Oh wise mums netters please tell me there is a magic solution that I don't know about!

Have you opened the windows ?
Give the house a good airing the smell may just be lingering in the air if you've cleaned everywhere properly,

Yep all windows are opened. I've cleaned and cleaned but the smell still lingers. It's making me gip when I go upstairs!

Bi carb on the carpets- leave it for 10 minutes and then hoover up

You can hire and rug doctor and a cleaning product especially for vomit. Most super markets have hire points for rug doctor.
Also, don't laugh...charcoal. a plate with charcoal on it on the landing it absorbs smells. Good luck!

I second the bicarbonate of soda trick. I spilt milk and it smelled like vomit mixed with bin water and arse. That was the only thing that helped.

You need an enzyme cleaner, like biological washing powder. It will be more difficult now the smell is dried in though.

I have bi carb!! I use it to deodourise the fridge! Why didn't i think of that? Genius!

If all else fails the carpet cleaner sounds like a plan. Carbon you say? Interesting.

All great suggestions. Thank you!
