To be annoyed when DH sits on the sofa wrong?

I love DH but he always sits on the sofa wrong
He leans on the back cushions which is making them misshapen
He has offered to re-plump them after he uses the sofa but I think it's ruining the cushion
AIBU??

I know exactly what you mean op. My dp does this. He leans on top of the cushions rather than against them.

He has crushed cushions to the point where plumping makes no difference. Think it depends on the filling.

This phenomenon now influences my decisions when buying sofas.

The one we have at the minute isn’t too bad. The seats and cushions are robust and zipped to the back of the sofa.

My dh also sits on sofas wrong, he leans more on top of the back sofa cushion rather than against it. It’s ruined the cushion and it’s only a 2 year old sofa.

My sofa is reeeeeally squashy and my DH always manages to squish the back cushions so they’re half the size

I’ve told when we’re looking to replace them he’s going to have his own armchair so the sofas don’t get ruined too quickly again.

now that's an idea
if only i could stop guests sitting on the arms of the sofa too... drives me mad

I take it you haven't got children then?!
No matter how many times I out my auctions back nearly on my sofa, they always end up in the middle of the lounge for my son to run at and jump into!
I think you need to stop being so controlling..I bet you there are a millions things you do, that really annoys him too!

I hate it when they sit right on the edge of the cushion
ineedtolovemyself. I’m short. If I don’t sit on the edge of the cushion, my feet don’t touch the ground. Fine, I can slouch on my own sofa but not the done thing when I’m a guest.

DH does this. He leans back but then slouches, dragging the back cushion down in the middle so it's all weirdly squashed. He also lays so his bum is right on the edge of one particular cushion and it's all squashed. You can feel how uneven the cushion is when you sit on it as you tilt to one side.

We've only had it 2 years and he's wrecking it Angry

Yep, my husband has ruined our sofa by sitting on it wrong too. He sort of sits on the back cushion which has left them all mishapen and they slide down.

He also ploinks himself down which is ruining the springs. :/

For those of you who think this is a joke question- I don’t think you realise what op is meaning. My sister has also had various partners who do this.

Yes to guests sitting on the edges of my cushions as well. I try and get them to be more 'comfortable' by encouraging them to sit further back.

Dh's favourite seat back cushion always gets mishappen due to the way he sits, he kind of sits into it then slouches down stretching it. The seat also seems to get creased which doesn't happen to the other cushions.

The whole sofa still looks great apart from his one seat which looks 10 years older than the rest.

Heh I hear you OP Grin 1 1/2 year old and he's killed that cushion. It doesn't bang into place anymore. Angry why do they have to sit and squash them like that?!

My DP sneezes are the wrong way, the oooh end sound is too short and the first ahhh sound is too long. Everyone else does it the other way round and sneezes in the normal atchooooooo way. It irrationally annoys me more than I could ever explain.

I used to get told off for this very thing by my mum. She's not on MN so from her especially as you are getting a hard time on here, I'll say you are definitely not being unreasonable.

Mine crushes and ruins my scatter cushions Angry he can’t sit with them behind his back for support like a normal person, oh no. He has to properly grind them under his arse while simultaneously sticking his feet out so no one can get in or out of the room with out tripping over them, then shouting at us Confused

FFS it's his sofa too surely he can sit how he wants?? .... I didn't realise there was a wrong way to sit on a sofa. The cushions are there to be used surely!

My Dh also does this. It's very annoying and he's wrecked his side of the sofa in 2 years

My DH sits on the sofa wrong and has made the back cushions all squashed too! He does have his own arm chair but spends most time, annoyingly, sitting on the sofa.

I think GummyGoddess you are my DH’s secret wife because that is exactly what my DH does to our new sofa.
