Don't kids get enough stuff on the 25th?

My nephews and niece now think it's their right to have gifts on the 24th as well.

Where does it end?

Yes I know AIBU!
Yes it's probably been done on here already in the last few weeks!

laurie and if you read the thread, you'll see that no one is talking about those people.

ShowOfHands · 17/12/2018 07:34

I love the idea that my Victorian granny who baked treats and left them as a surprise on the hearth for her 13 siblings - many of whom were working 12hr shifts in a mine from age 13 btw - was a chavvy purveyor of tat. We do the same, only with a book thrown in for good measure but I shall enjoy my slow descent into despotic madness as I march across Europe garotting certain ethnic groups with pound shop tinsel. Is that it? Is that my future? Did I get it right?

Alicatz66 · 17/12/2018 07:35

notsurewhatshsppening.... mine are grown up now .. I miss the Christmas books !! Especially Mog and Frog in Winter !!.. they are still in a box in the Oct though xx

missfliss · 17/12/2018 07:36

You are trying so desperately hard to be offensive aren't you:

Yup, no initiative to have more fun missfluss can you really not think of better ways to spend your children’s childhood? Poor fuckers, pyjamas, a movie and a shitload of crap photos. Knock yourselves out! 😂

I feel sorry for you.

LaurieMarlow · 17/12/2018 07:37

you'll see that no one is talking about those people.

I don't think it's at all clear who you are talking about when you throw out charming insults like shitmas eve boxes. Hmm

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/12/2018 07:47

miss and laurie
Just ignore posters like that

Obviously ive got no problem whatsoever with people not wanting to give their children pjs on Christmas eve and most people have been perfectly polite about not wanting to do that

But there are a few posters who are being very rude on purpose, dont give them the rise they obviously want

And there are always going to be people who struggle to read the thread and chime in with comments like 'buying plastic tat' when the majority have said its pjs and a drink...plastic pjs must be very uncomfortable

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 17/12/2018 07:49

I feel sorry for you
It’s ok, me and my kids aren’t spending Christmas Eve in polyester pajamas watching a shite film. We are going to be out having fun!

missfliss · 17/12/2018 07:52

Well I hope you have a lovely time.
It's the season of goodwill and all that.

LaurieMarlow · 17/12/2018 07:53

It's ok were, it's cotton pajamas and a good film. You enjoy your day. We'll certainly enjoy ours.

LaurieMarlow · 17/12/2018 07:55

I know you're right rufus, I just find it hard to resist sometimes Blush

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 17/12/2018 07:56

Oh laurie it sounds so special like no other day of the year. Wow.

missfliss · 17/12/2018 07:59

I know you're right rufus, I just find it hard to resist sometimes

Oh me too Laurie

Reluctantly going to have to leave now as I have to start work to earn money to provide some other festive tedium for my poor child. 😂

Have a lovely day one and all!

HeadfirstForHalos · 17/12/2018 08:00

"Shitmas eve boxes"

This really has riled some posters hasn't it? 😅

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/12/2018 08:01

laurie

Its very hard

I quite often lurk on threads for pages and pages then someone says something so stupid i have to pop on with a Shock face

We go out on Christmas eve to various places and then spend the evening chilling

I feel a bit guilty going out in the evening as i know most people just want to go home

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/12/2018 08:02

Plus shitmas day sounds like an awful holiday

Although we did have one shitmas day...literally

LaurieMarlow · 17/12/2018 08:03

Oh laurie it sounds so special like no other day of the year.

When you start being a prize tit like this, I just assume you have some personal issues that for some reason you're taking out on some stranger on the internet. Hmm

My small children have a lovely day. That's all that matters to me. Christ knows why their pjs, books and DVD would be a problem for anyone else, but the world is a strange place.

MrsFassy · 17/12/2018 08:04

@WereYouHareWhenIWasFox You do realise it's possible to do more than one thing on Christmas Eve? It's not an either or.

Me and my DC go out, sometimes to see family, sometimes cinema and lunch somewhere of their choosing, we've on occasion had people to ours, but once home it's new (cotton) pjs and Christmas films snuggled up on the sofa while playing board games and having fun at home also.

I honestly don't understand the sneery attitudes of people on here. If you don't like something don't do it but you because you don't agree with it doesn't make it wrong.

PJ's Christmas Eve was something my parents did for me which I've continued, over the years I expanded things, namely bath bomb, teddy, book, treats and DVD. Little things they'd be getting anyway but which help add to the magic Christmas Eve and create a little more excitement for my DC. I don't judge those who don't do this so, I don't understand why they have to judge those of us who do?

LaurieMarlow · 17/12/2018 08:04

although we did have one shitmas day...literally

We need to hear more Grin

HeadfirstForHalos · 17/12/2018 08:05

Mine have very nice , good quality pyjamas thank you , and we watch a good film 😁

We also always have a Chinese takeaway , even though nobody told us to, I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell.me it's chavvy/tacky/consumerist.

Fancy all these parents buying pyjamas and spending time with their children watching FILMS. Shame on you all.

MrsFassy · 17/12/2018 08:06

**just because

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/12/2018 08:07

laurie

I really dont think you do Grin

The children were quite little, in hindsight we probably would have got away with telling them that it wasn't Christmas day

They were so ill, they look like death warmed up in their photos

I think MIL would have hit the roof though as it was the first Christmas we were spending with her Grin

Findingdotty · 17/12/2018 08:08

Fully agree. I hate the idea as it’s just bringing gifts forward by a day. My DC get new pjs for Christmas and a film each too. I don’t want to give it to them a day early. The point is celebrating Christmas on Christmas Day.
I think it’s silly but obviously people can do whatever they want with their own families. It is a shame to not think of the pressure it puts on families who can’t afford it though.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 17/12/2018 08:08

I know head

I feel very bad spending Christmas eve doing what i want to do Sad

Used to go to the nativity mass...but my children thought i was torturing them!

HeadfirstForHalos · 17/12/2018 08:08

We had a sickmas day once. That was fun.

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 17/12/2018 08:09

I absolutely love that people are more offended that I accused them of buying their children (shock horror) polyester pajamas, than they are that I accused them of being boring fuckers. So very British! I love you all!
