@wonderwomanfromthenorth

Yep. DH often thinks up random names. I must have had hundreds and hundreds over the years.

Bamchicabaawaa · 16/12/2018 19:01

@thefuriousfuggler exactly- I’ve contributed to “show me your pets” “show me your haircut” I’ve alsi started threads when a then boyfriend tried to force me into an abortion, or when he tipped dinner all over the floor, I posted threads when I was raped.
I came to talk on mn because I didn’t want to have RL judgement

Topseyt · 16/12/2018 19:04

No. I have never name changed. Never felt the need so far.

I don't post about personal stuff, and I don't post stuff I am not willing to say face to face.

Some people very close to me might just recognise or suss me out from my username, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

grumpy4squash · 16/12/2018 19:06

I'm due a name change but can't remember my password and can't see a button for 'forgotten password'.
Does anyone know how to do it?

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 16/12/2018 19:08

I post everyone month or so or if I post things which are obviously identifiable. I’ve had a few health conditions which tie up and make me really identifiable.

LilMy33 · 16/12/2018 19:14

I NC every now and then. I try not to share anything overly identifying anyway but feel more secure NC anyway.

flyingdragonzog · 16/12/2018 19:21

Every few days. I know it's annoying for some people but I escaped an abusive marriage amongst other things and I feel safer name changing constantly

People use the argument that you shouldn't post anything too personal or identifying anyway - but MN is meant to be support for parents by parents and funnily enough I don't have a lovely supportive family or massive network of friends I can turn to at odd hours of the day or night. MN is how I make it through often

brick10 · 16/12/2018 19:26

Every two months approximately

masktaster · 16/12/2018 19:31

I mostly stick to one name, but as I post identifying (ish) information, if I want to talk about something not public knowledge, or rant about something safely, I switch to another. I have a few names in rotation Xmas Grin

CanSurvive · 16/12/2018 19:33

Had over a 100 NC. Sometimes once a week sometimes a few months. My set of life circumstances is so unbelievable far fetched and fucked up, that apart from being called out for being a troll, I would be very identifiable. I make sure i change after a particular set of circumstances. MN is my lifeline. I also try and post on chat for it to delete, and must remember that it not longer does!

CanSurvive · 16/12/2018 19:34

I would leave MN if you couldn’t NC anymore

JacquesHammer · 16/12/2018 19:39

I do think some posters don’t realise they have a really obvious style.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I can tell who certain posters are even when they namechange.

spideysense · 16/12/2018 19:42

Jacques what do you mean? There's surely thousands of people on this site? Do individuals really post enough for you to recognise a trend?

Some yes. Particularly obvious writing style, always posting a certain opinion on certain threads, it all adds up.

Not every poster obviously but some.

ilovesooty · 16/12/2018 19:46

Yes some posters who namechange are still recognisable.

I've never namechanged. I don't feel the need to.

flyingdragonzog · 16/12/2018 19:47

I think a lot can tell who I am. They're not who I NC because of though. If my ex read one personal post he would know it was me... unless he becomes a regular mumsnetter even if he finds me once (and has done before) he can't keep tabs on me long term

spideysense · 16/12/2018 19:49

I think I need to up my mumsnet game. I'd never be able to recognise a poster, I don't know any!

Hezz · 16/12/2018 20:26

Weekly.

I used to be a big name round these parts Wink

spideysense · 16/12/2018 20:36

I want to become a mumsnet detective, I feel like I'm missing out!!
