As background, I currently have:

  • one son I’m not doing a good enough job at being a mum too
  • one elderly parent in hospital for the nth time
-one other elderly relative in care who I have PoA for
  • my patient, loving husband who only drives me mad occasionally 😁
  • my company, which involves 50-60 hours a week, quite a lot of stress and makes me the major breadwinner
  • my horse, who lately I rarely see due to all of the above
When everyone is healthy, it all just about works. When they’re not, it doesn’t. But instead of nourishing myself and helping myself get through it, my default when it all goes wrong is coffee, junk food and wine, none of which actually help me. So if anyone has any tricks for staying on track when the going gets tough, please god share them...

Sorry but you need to strip back. You work way too much with everything else going on including the horse. You would need to be superwoman to cope well with everything you have going in!

I'd say DH/S couldhelp more?

Seems to me you're spreading yourself so thin & have too much on your shoulders. Ask for help.

Mindfulness and meditation, and reading the stoics. For a day every month I dress in the worst clothes, eat nothing but porridge and wander the streets barefoot. This helps center me and remember that I can cope if life takes an unexpected turn, that I can cope with it.

Flowers - I am certain you'll get through it.
