I’m due to go on Sunday for the Christmas Market, travelling from the Northwest so a fun 2hrs on a coach.
Apart from the fact it’s Baltic now, it’s due to get a lot worse tomorrow and I just want to veg at home.
Ahh, I know I should wrap up and enjoy but meh.....

Stay home, crowds do my head in

PickAChew · 15/12/2018 00:48

Nah. Yanbu. That windchill looks to be a killer.

Lovingbenidorm · 15/12/2018 00:48

Why do you have to go?
It’s going to be fucking Baltic tomorrow!

Ilikedampcake · 15/12/2018 00:50

It’s a gift from a friend, paid for so I really can’t bail. God let it snow please....

Lovingbenidorm · 15/12/2018 00:52

If you can’t bail you just gotta get wrapped up warm and do that thang!

Lovingbenidorm · 15/12/2018 00:54

Hang on
Your friend gave you the ‘gift’ of going to a Christmas market 2hours away from where you live?
She fucking hates you

IWantMyHatBack · 15/12/2018 01:00

I wouldn't bother tbh, esp with the forecast.

IWantMyHatBack · 15/12/2018 01:02

Are you sure you're up to it? Esp as you've had a temp since lunchtime and your stomach is feeling a bit iffy?

Ilikedampcake · 15/12/2018 01:03

LovingBenidorm sorry have no idea how to tag someone. She genuinely loves me, I’m sure of that, I’m pretty sure this was booked back in the summer, so the cold was a distant memory.

We went to York for a Christmas event once. The little windey streets were packed shoulder to shoulder and you couldn’t even get in the shops, you just had to peer from the doorway. It was utterly pointless and we went home after half an hour.

Aquamarine1029 · 15/12/2018 01:05

You had your gallbladder out last night so you can't possibly go.

ilovesooty · 15/12/2018 01:07

I was in York yesterday. It wasn't that crowded.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 15/12/2018 01:08

It's a nightmare at weekends as it's so busy!! As the previous poster said your literally shoulder to shoulder. We went first thing on a Monday this time but it started getting packed about 10.30am so we didn't stay long.
Stay at home!

Ilikedampcake · 15/12/2018 01:08

No I can’t do the sickness thing, we’ve been mates since forever so I know this gift was meant with genuine love, would never bail on her.
I’m stuck, I know, just genuinely concerned about the weather.

Just find a pub and warm up there 😁

ohtheholidays · 15/12/2018 01:16

Wrap up in thin layers that way you'll keep warm and if you go indoors for lunch or to look around shops you can take a layer or two off.

I always find if my feet, hands and ears are kept warm it helps make the rest of me feel warm.

Take a travel mug with you with a hot drink in for the coach journey.

I bet you'll both have a lovely day.

forumdonkey · 15/12/2018 01:20

Go to the pub, museum, pub, dungeons and finish off in the pub Grin

NameChangeToAvoidBeingFound · 15/12/2018 01:24

I'm at uni in York and I'd recommend booking the Black Swan for lunch. It's cheap and the food is fantastic.

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 15/12/2018 01:25

York Xmas market is rammed chaos. But there are lots of nice pubs and quieter places to hang out.

Ilikedampcake · 15/12/2018 01:26

Donkey, you speak of dungeons? I’ve never heard of these, last time I went to York, I spent it in the train museum and nearly died of boredom. I was 16 tbh 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
halfwitpicker · 15/12/2018 01:27

Why are you so concerned about the weather?

Drogosnextwife · 15/12/2018 01:28

YABVU, I would love to go to York at Christmas time. Enjoy!

AGHHHH · 15/12/2018 01:32

2 hours is nothing! Brew

Ilikedampcake · 15/12/2018 01:42

Halfwit, because it’s meant to snow, so 2 hrs is quite far away if you get stuck...

Lovingbenidorm · 15/12/2018 01:50

Op if it was given in love then so shall it be received!
If it’s a good friend who’s company makes you happy then you will have a lovely time.
Weather and conditions just add to the story you both will laugh at in years to come.
Definitely find a nice pub with a big fire tho😉
