To ask for your new Christmas food discoveries

A colleague brought some of the ALDI Black Forest mince pies today and God are they good! So naturally went up and stocked up on some for home.

What are your old favourites or new discoveries when it comes to Christmassy food bits?

M&Smulled wine is the best. Better than all the others, especially when a few years out if date.

Co Op christmas spiced salted caramel pretzels. Absolutely amazing. We're addicted in this house.

I really want to try the black forest mince pies. They've also got something like spiced caramel ones, which I nearly picked up today, but we already have a panettone, shortbread and lebkuchen to get through, so thought better of it!

Baileys Extra Thick Cream. Perfect with a warm mince pie or Christmas pudding.

Aldi (deluxe) chocolate orange cinder toffee....probably called honeycomb. This will be keeping my dentist in Caribbean cruises for the foreseeable.

HourglassTigger · 18/12/2018 09:05

And see those yard-long boxes of jaffa cakes, which, yawn, turn out to be just long boxes half-filled with a few normal sized sleeves of jaffa cakes ....
Well Lidl (I think, it could be t'other one) is doing magnificent beasts of yard-long Chorizos.... with proportionally increased girth.
Have admired from a safe distance but yet to sample so cant comment on taste.

M&S no-turkey Christmas sandwiches. They are absolutely delicious.

I bought a pack of Sainsbury's own brand mushroom veggie sausages reduced the other week just to try and they are bloody AMAZING. They're not specific Christmas food but they'll make the breakfast butties into something really special.

Aldi Prosecco Panettone is delicious (recommended to me by an Italian friend).

MrsMouse03 · 18/12/2018 10:14

Not new but made me smile M&S do foot long pigs in blankets!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 18/12/2018 10:16

Tesco's spiced plum Linzer Tortes are delicious.

Agree with Alltheprettyseahorses

Sainsburys Shroomdogs are really yum, we aren't vegan but often have these instead of meat sausages.

Pipotle · 18/12/2018 10:22

Not new really but new to me - Stollen! Delicious, doughy, icing-sugar-y. Can't recommend enough.

dragongirlx · 18/12/2018 10:28

Aldi potted cheese - its absolutely gorgeous

Asda extra special cinnamon and maple nuts

Tesco in-store bakery mince pies (currently on a 2-boxes-of-4-for-£1.50 offer) are the nicest shop-bought mince pies I’ve ever had
