AIBU to have a wee snifter of Christmas Spirit

to get into the Christmas Spirit while making Christmas mince pies, shortbread, gingerbread, and truffles?

Because the spirit is at an all-time low here - I'm so homesick, lol. I can't even ring my Mum for advice on how to make the mince pies, because it's just past 3am over there. . .

I say, go for it! If alcohol was legal and readily available here (I'm in the ME) then I'd join you too! Wine

I have zero festive spirit. Are you heading home for Christmas? Or staying put? Put some festive tunes on as well, just to get into the swing of things a bit more.

Send some mince pies this way please Biscuit

Got the Christmas music playing, happyEverlftar! Oh boy, the Middle East, that would be hard. Erm, I used to hear tell from the nurses I knew that worked there that amazing quantities of grape juice and sugar used to seem to grace their shopping trollies. . .

Staying put, only been here 4 months, and know from previous experience that it would be disastrous to go home so soon, particularly with kids. So just trying to do all the right things.

I'm not sure about the mince pies, I could be paying someone to put them in the bin and buy some without letting on - it's the first time I've made them on my own, lol, without parental oversight. . . but I think I've put sufficient alcomohol in them, that should help, right?!

Haha yes! I'm aware of some who do that, but it tastes grim. I try and stick to the real stuff when I travel around Smile

How did you get on with the mince pies? I really want one! Can you find jarred mincemeat? Or do you (your mum!) make your own?
