Just me, or who else has had an ECG done? What did it involve?

They put stickers on your chest. There's wires that come from them into a little box which you clip onto your jeans.

You wear it for 24 hours (don't bath or shower) and then hand it back in.

Had a couple, very quick, they stick some wires on with pads, get a reading, take the pads off and you go on your merry way.

Had to take top off but not bra if I recall correctly.

Top (and bra off), lots of stickers on your chest (they go from the centre, around and under your left breast) and one on each arm and leg, then connected to wires - 1 min of a machine and then unhooking.
No pain (except from sticker removal if you're sensitive), and far more time putting stickers and wires on then doing the test itself.
Just a bit of topless time - no modesty available for it I'm afraid.
For the staff its a complete non issue - anyone can do them, most wards have their own machine, only technically difficult in people (men) with hairy chests, wriggly babies and tiny babies (can be hard to fit all the stickers on them - plus those ones tend to fit in the wriggly category too).

Truck that is only for a 24 hour ECG. A normal one takes about 2 minutes and is as previous.

I’ve had both sorts, one took about ten minutes and for the other it was 24 hours. The short version gives a trace of your heart when you are lying flat on your back and resting. The other monitors you doing normal stuff in a day. It’s all painless, but I did have to take everything off my top half, including bra. A couple of the stickers go on your ankle/lower leg, so tights might not be a good idea.

For me - on a bed, chest out, pads all over with wires on, ten mins.

I’m hoping I am wrong, but I have a strange feeling that the next few questions will be about being naked/shirt off, with no privacy during the procedure.

In case it’s not-it’s really simple. They just put stickers on your chest.

Have had many this past couple of years, takes a few mins and the results are instant. Not much fun having the stickers (and hair) removed though!
