Fever, committing and said her head hurt

I'm sorry for posting here for traffic but I'm worrying and want some advice.

Earlier today my 4yo vomited three times seemingly out of the blue and has had a fever. She has been playing and happy still so I didn't think too much of it to be honest.

Just before bed she mentioned her head hurt and when I asked where, she pointed to the side of her head.

Shes in bed and still has a fever and I've been checking on her hourly. She's had cal pop but her temp is still up. It's around 38c occasionally dropping slightly below. I've given her calpol and she is due another dose at 11 which I will wake her up for.

I decided to google the symptoms and suddenly keep seeing meningitis and now I'm freaking out! But I don't know if I am overreacting as she's been playing today, has just been slightly tired which made me think it's some virus she's picked up at nursery

I should add definitely no bangs to the head as she has been with me all day.

Get her seen op. When it comes to possible meningitis you need to take the better safe than sorry approach. Call 111 now please.

Aquamarine1029 · 13/12/2018 22:37

I would call 111 as meningitis is definitely a concern. Don't be afraid to reach out for advise, and given her very young age, if you become extremely concerned, take her to a&e. Better safe than sorry.

olivertwistwantsmore · 13/12/2018 22:38

But it’s not possible meningitis, Stormwhale...

Keep an eye on her, op.

Random18 · 13/12/2018 22:44

If you are worried phone 111 for advice.

But it could be anything. Ear infections make my DS vomit sometimes.

He had a really high temp last week overnight and was screaming in pain saying his tummy and head hurt. We did take him to GP but nothing wrong at all.

Have you checked her hands/feet/legs for a rash and if so done the glass test? I thought my dd had meningitis when she was tiny, she has a non fading rash, we were in A&E before you could blink, but she was absolutely fine. What they told me was that usually you are really, really ill if you have meningitis, so it doesn't sound like it to me, but keep checking.

KitKatCHA · 13/12/2018 22:53

I was told photosensitivity was one of the big giveaways when my son had a non blanching rash, if you're walking her at 11 check then. They also said that kids with meningitis are really very poorly rather than a bit off. However if you are worried call 111

Thank you everyone for your responses. I woke her and she woke easily. I asked her if her head was hurting she said no it was good. I asked if she had any pains anywhere and she said no. I've checked her all over and no rash whatsoever. I got her to look at her bedroom light and asked if it hurt her eyes and she laughed and said that's silly mummy, no it doesn't haha phew! Feeling relieved! Her temp is now 37.7 so coming down slowly
