Major panic over cold sore

So I’ve suffered with them for years and years but not had one in about two years until yesterday. I am being very careful as usual washing hands not sharing cups etc but I am absolutely petrified I am going to pass it on to my baby I am obviously not kissing him etc but I am in abit of a panic , I really don’t want him to catch the virus off me as I know how miserable it is. Has anyone got the virus but managed to never pass it on to dc ?

I get cold sores and have for the last 30 years. My eldest is now an adult and none of my children caught the virus from me over the years.

As soon as I feel the tingling I put a large (pea amount) of Zovirax on it. This acts to reduce the sore but also acts as a reminder to me. So if I accidentally touch it I'd feel the cream and sanitise my hands.

I always use a separate towel during a cold sore. It appears to have worked, despite my paranoia when they were babies, they didn't catch it.

If babies are not infected, they will generally acquire immunity from living with someone who occasionally gets them. So inthe long run you will actually be protecting her.
The precautions you are taking are good.

Yes me! I get massive ones, nasal ones too (immunosuppression side effect) and my kids are aged 14-8 and I’ve managed never to pass it on. Also been with dh fir 20 yrs and he’s never caught it either.
