Shop signs

I'm sure there'll have been a similar thread at some point but this is really bugging me recently!

Why can't people get grammar/punctuation right on shop signs? I've seen 4 different signs this week, all without apostrophes! For example:

Kerryannes nails
Mike and Melanies dog grooming

For a start, why don't the manufacturers of the signs spot the mistake? Suppose it's not their problem but how do people not know!!

Just a little frustrating to me recently! AIBU to think that more care should be taken. Not that it's the biggest issue really 😂

Yes but that is such a good point - why does the sign writer not tell them..? Does anyone know the answer to this? I’m fascinated by it!

At least Imran got the apostrophe right in his own name!

Before I retired, I worked in a print shop as a graphic designer. I always pointed out the typos and would correct them. To me, it's part of the job.

We have 'Joes Bar' which is bad enough but then underneath it says they serve 'continental beer's'.

Years ago I knew someone who had a sign writing business, also did menus, leaflets etc (this was way before the internet). His own flyers and business cards were absolutely appalling, apostrophes all in the wrong places and I remember distinctly that he'd spelled stationery as stationary!!

That's what I'd have thought @colbyandmontysmum but it would seem that the printers don't necessarily know where apostrophes go themselves! Surely you'd think they needed to be aware of all the correct punctuation and the common mistakes?

Drives me mad!! It would put me off going to any of these places, is that bad?

Not at all, if a business has such poor attention to detail that they can’t get their sign/adverts/flyers correct then they can’t be much cop. I won’t use a business like that.
