Car insurance cancellation please help!

Hi
I recently got new car insurance and all fine. I’ve had an email today saying they’re cancelling my policy as I didn’t provide a copy of my driving license, proof of address and the v5. I check my spam folder as I couldn’t see an email requesting this and sure enough there it is. I now can’t get hold of anyone on the phone to get this sorted and have never been asked to provide this before?! I’m really worried now as I can’t get hold of anyone at the insurance to sort it out and online it says it can be very difficult to get insured if you’ve had a policy cancelled?

Does anyone have any advice please? I’m really panicking as I need my car to get about and for work :(

I don't really understand why you can't get hold of anyone in the middle of the afternoon to sort it out. Most insurance companies man their phones until at least 8pm. Keep trying, explain the situation, provide the documentation and I'm sure they will re-instate the cover.

It's weird that you can't get in touch with anyone- do they have a web chat service if you can't get through to someone on the phone?

I’ve been on hold for 45 mins! It’s because they’re saying I can only speak to a particular department. The other number I have doesn’t even ring just goes to voicemail. I’ve also emailed. No webchat :(

It is unusual to be asked for these things, also unusual that you cannot get in touch. Were you insured with some very niche supplier?

Alfie no it’s Sheila’s wheels (underwritten by esure)! I’m so confused as to why they’ve asked no other insurer ever has

Can you start looking for other quotes? I just swapped my car insurance last week after leaving it to the day before my renewal was due and I had it sorted in half an hour.

It would be a red flag to me that they're so hard to get it touch with- I had an not-at-fault accident earlier this year, and it was stressful enough without having to wait on hold for hours to my insurance company.

I had a similar thing with Sheila's wheels - sent the stuff to the e-mail address and they calmed down. I think it's to make it clear you need to do it and prevent them having to chase people for ages.

It's shitty though and I moved insurer next year as I wasn't impressed.
