to complain to Trip Advisor about this misogynistic review?

I was looking for reviews for this show before I decide whether to buy tickets and came across this one. What a charmer! Surely you review the show and the venue, not make judgemental, misogynistic comments about the women in the audience? I am surprised it got published.

OP posts:

It the reference to the smell of genetalia that makes it misogynistic and not comparable to insults towards older men based on baldness and beer guts.

Mrsfrumble · 15/12/2018 15:04
  • genitalia. My spellchecker is a prude...
masterandmargarita · 15/12/2018 15:10

Insight - there was no reference to genitals in your example. Not comparable at all.

Agent - can you really smell those things?! How do you know what they smell like

Plaiceholder · 15/12/2018 15:11

Surprised this got published tbh.

A few years ago I wrote a review of a very well known and much loved vegetarian restaurant in Ambleside. I mentioned how professional the staff were when they dealt with an angry middle aged man who hadn't realised it was a vegetarian restaurant and kicked off and shouted at them saying they were breaking the trade description act Hmm.

Trip Advisor would publish it due to mentioning the clientele.

Avegemitesandwich · 15/12/2018 15:19

What does femfresh smell like then? And how is he so familiar with the smell?

Mrsfrumble · 15/12/2018 15:25

I doubt very much he is. He just knows it’s a product that women use on their genitals, and that implying that women’s genitals smell is an easy way to insult and humiliate them.

Aquilla · 15/12/2018 15:31

Oh dear. It's a mildly funny, probably quite accurate joke. Do you really want to censor the free press?
Best stick with the sodding BBC, pet.

morningtoncrescent62 · 15/12/2018 15:49

What is throwing shapes and how do you do it? I'm menopausal so I obviously need to get in on the act.

InSightMars · 15/12/2018 15:56

It's only easy to offend and humiliate women about the smell of our genitalia if we let him. If he's struck a nerve then maybe a few should think about toning down the femfresh and buy non-scented san pro? Why are we buying these products aimed at making women feel dirty and smelly anyway? If you keep yourself clean and wear fresh underwear there shouldn't be any noticeable odor from your genitals to need covering up.

As a pp noted it does smell vile especially combined with the general miasma of stale alcohol, sweat and clashing power perfumes prevalent at some concerts.

Mookatron · 15/12/2018 16:04

What?? Rather than complaining it's misogynistic to suggest middle aged women have stinky fannies we should think about whether our fannies smell nice to avoid comment by bitter old bellends? That's misogyny practically applied.

Mookatron · 15/12/2018 16:06

Anyway it seems to have gone. Good

Dimsumlosesum · 15/12/2018 16:07

Men are so "hilarious".

InSightMars · 15/12/2018 16:15

Don't put words in my posts Mookatron and deliberately misunderstand and twist them to suit your own purposes. I'm saying the products themselves are misogynistic, yet bizarrely women are falling over themselves to comply with the narrative that their genitals smell offensive and they need to cover it up. The irony is they are covering it up with scents that are also unpleasant and so distinctive that even men recognize them as intimate hygiene products. It's not that unreasonable therefore that they leap to the conclusion that there must be an unpleasant smell to be covered up or why else use them?

AgentProvocateur · 15/12/2018 16:26

@masterandmargarita, next time you’re in the supermarket, pick a box up and have a sniff. I guarantee you’ll recognise the smell next time you sit next to someone on public transport with scented towel.

SoupDragon · 15/12/2018 16:47

The only time I've ever known that a random woman had her period was because I could smell her scented pad.

Mookatron · 15/12/2018 22:04

I didn't deliberately misunderstand your post InSightMars and I'm not sure what you think my own purposes are. I do take your point but I don't think women are 'falling over themselves' to comply and neither do I think the man in question could smell any feminine hygiene products. He was just being rude. And you are suggesting women change their behaviour because of men's (or this man's) comments.

busybarbara · 16/12/2018 08:25

It's a bit like if you live in a house where air freshener is heavily used when someone does a bloop. You then associate the smell of flowers with bloop. Same happens with femfresh it doesn't make the smell any nicer but instead that smell gets associated with a manky fanjar.

SoupDragon · 16/12/2018 08:52

What on earth is a bloop?

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 16/12/2018 10:08

The review has gone from TA, shame I wanted to read others he’s written

masterandmargarita · 16/12/2018 10:32

I honestly have never smelt this fem fresh smell you all speak of! I didn't know periods smelt and therefore needed their smell to be covered up. It's all passed me by all these years. But hey maybe I'm the one with the smelly fanny!

NoParticularPattern · 16/12/2018 10:46

What’s this femfresh smell you all speak of? I know what you’re talking about with regard to scented liners etc, but the femfresh I have here doesn’t smell- it’s one of the marketing points of it! Fragrance free and ph balanced. And no, I’m not “falling over myself” to use feminine hygiene products- I use it as a face wash because it’s the only thing that doesn’t make my skin fall off!!

Chloe84 · 16/12/2018 10:58

Women aren't falling over themselves to comply. It's quite difficult to buy unscented pads, and the ones that might be unscented aren't often advertised on the packet as such.

1forAll74 · 21/12/2018 01:31

Not offensive at all, and a tiny bit amusing, and there are many people out there, who get their kicks from writing rubbish reviews.Reporting this would be pathetic !
