to complain to Trip Advisor about this misogynistic review?

I was looking for reviews for this show before I decide whether to buy tickets and came across this one. What a charmer! Surely you review the show and the venue, not make judgemental, misogynistic comments about the women in the audience? I am surprised it got published.

It’s not misogynistic. He’s expressing an opinion, as is his right, and trying to be humourous. Ignore it if you don’t like it, and move on. I’m sick of women like you taking offence at everything a man says and making women look like humourless harpies looking for offence in everything.

Rhiannon13 · 13/12/2018 09:41

Oh for goodness sake! The man can say what he bloody well likes. He was hardly an intelligent comment but he undoubtedly thought he was being funny and would probably laugh if he was described in a similar way. We don't all have the same sense of humour so why should we all start pandering to the 'easily offended' brigade?

Rhiannon13 · 13/12/2018 09:42

*It

Russiawithlove · 13/12/2018 09:43

Wow its not even 10am and ive been called an internalized misogynist...hope I spelt that correctly..cnt cope with being called illiterate as well Shock

SylviaAndSydney · 13/12/2018 09:43

I agree it’s not misogynistic, he’s used pretty apt descriptors. Sometimes, some things are just a joke, meant to be laughed at.

YepImafraidIchangeditagain · 13/12/2018 09:45

Oh bloody hell, sensitive much?
It's funny and cheeky....you can't censor everything! It's not a bloody front page article in a broad sheet, it's someone's opinion on TripAdvisor. Hmm

Itsyersel · 13/12/2018 09:45

Fucksake...get over yourselves the guys review is probably spot on! I have been to many a concert where middle-aged woman are making a complete arse of themselves!
To the extent that a group of lads on a 18-30 holiday would be mortified.....do you not all get bored of this feminist bullshit?

championquartz · 13/12/2018 09:45

Don't shoot the messenger

MorrisZapp · 13/12/2018 09:48

Nah, he's hit the nail on the satirical head there. I speak as a middle aged prosecco guzzler.

ciderhouserules · 13/12/2018 09:49

I think it's the 'femfresh' jibe that really offended me. Bloated, - I reckon he probably is too. Middle- aged - he is too. Prosecco fuelled - probably right.

The 'menopausal/femfresh' is definitely misogynist.

Twat.

Prestoli · 13/12/2018 09:49

Oh no it's the report police. Just ignore it and get on with your life love

Toddlerteaplease · 13/12/2018 09:51

Very funny. Some people are too easily offended!

winsinbin · 13/12/2018 09:52

I find it irritating because as a review of the venue it tells me nothing. I want to know if the seats are cramped, are there good sightlines to the stage, is the wine lukewarm, are the queues for the loos massive etc etc. Trip Advisor is meant to help people make informed choices and this doesn’t.

CBA2RTFT · 13/12/2018 09:53

I just wondered how the reviewer was so familiar with the smell of Femfesh. I'm a menopausal middle aged woman myself, and have no idea what it smells like.

Russiawithlove · 13/12/2018 09:56

Well winsinbin look at it like this...its added a little light hearted humour to the usual boring reviews.
You never know.. It might drum up trade Grin

CBA2RTFT · 13/12/2018 09:56

The 'menopausal/femfresh' is definitely misogynist

How is the adjective "menopausal" misogynistic? Menopause is a normal part of every middle aged woman's life. It's as normal as sneezing. I happily describe myself as menopausal (as I did in my post above).

DistanceCall · 13/12/2018 09:58

He's a massive git, probably embittered against women.

But I believe in freedom of expression. So no, I wouldn't complain. I think the review says all it needs to say about the reviewer, frankly.

Mookatron · 13/12/2018 10:03

I get the freedom of expression arguments but how can anyone possibly say it's not misogynistic? Whatever you think of it being on Tripadvisor?

busybarbara · 13/12/2018 10:26

I find it irritating because as a review of the venue it tells me nothing

Because it's a theatre predominantly associated with a single show (unlike most venues) it seems fair that many reviews would include observations about the current show.

LucilleBluth · 13/12/2018 10:35

Ffs, of course its misogynistic. God forbid...menopausal women having fun. The man is a twat.

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 13/12/2018 10:38

Proud that this is a little anecdote born in my home town. Stay classy, Hornchurch.

ciderhouserules · 13/12/2018 10:53

How is the adjective "menopausal" misogynistic? - because it is being used as an insult. Only women can be menopausal, therefore to use it like this Twat has, is hateful towards women. It might be accurate (I am menopausal myself) but that is none of anyone else's business.

And I echo the PP - I have no idea what 'femfresh' smells like. I don't suppose most men do, either. 'Twat' obviously thinks that women with vaginas smell and should be/do use it.

Funny? No. Hateful? Yes. He's definitely taken an opportunity to show his feelings towards women.

AdamNichol · 13/12/2018 11:03

People who are offended by this review obviously subscribe to a viewpoint that whilst they are clever enough to see this as pompous bullshit and move on, the rest of the population must lack their cognitive skills - thus these words need to be policed and removed for the good of all.

There ain't no cure for stupid; and the review and reviewer are stupid. But, that ain't exactly a revelation is it?
And if you think reporting this kind of thing does anything for the progress of women other than link that hope to hysterical over-reactions, then you see something I don't.

Houseonahill · 13/12/2018 11:07

Maybe it was an accurate description?

MorrisZapp · 13/12/2018 11:08

My DP has been bald these last fifteen years. 'Baldy bastard' is the first stop for anyone looking to insult him (not me, obvs, I use it for my second or third salvo).

Balding, paunchy etc are standard issue satirical terms for middle aged men. It's not usually offensive, and in the right hands the wit sometimes finds its mark.
