I was looking for reviews for this show before I decide whether to buy tickets and came across this one. What a charmer! Surely you review the show and the venue, not make judgemental, misogynistic comments about the women in the audience? I am surprised it got published.

OP posts:
RoboticMary · 13/12/2018 11:12

Ffs, of course its misogynistic

No, he’s not saying he hates women or advocating violence against them. He just hasn’t said anything positive. Don’t like what he’s said or find it amusing? Don’t pay attention then. Forget it and move on.

Deadbudgie · 13/12/2018 11:13

Does femfresh have an unmistakable smell? How often has this guy been sniffing it? (A bit too often it seems, most likely straight out the can)

ElsieCat · 13/12/2018 11:15

Ask yourself honestly if you’d feel equally enraged about a woman describing a bunch of beer bellied, balding middle aged men in anoraks who probably all need Viagra, at a Real Ale festival.

If not, then let it go.

PinkHeart5914 · 13/12/2018 11:17

It was a George Micheal tribute act what did he expect in all honesty 😂

CBA2RTFT · 13/12/2018 11:17

How is the adjective "menopausal" misogynistic? - because it is being used as an insult

But it's only an insult if you regard it as misogynistic in the first place!

DistanceCall · 13/12/2018 11:41

Yep, it's misogynistic. But then I think that people with hateful views have a right to express them, as long as they do not incite people to violence or anything like that.

And I do think that stating your views has consequences. As in, you're entitled to spew your misogynistic shit, but I'm not even going to give you the time of day, much less my friendliness or my custom.

ciderhouserules · 13/12/2018 14:01

ElsieCat - a review like that would probably be removed from TripAd.

ElsieCat · 13/12/2018 14:31

Then so will this one probably be.

masterandmargarita · 13/12/2018 15:03

Yeah the guy's fucking hilarious Hmm

Luvacuppatea · 13/12/2018 15:56

Why bother getting offended? Nothing better to do?

KarBB · 13/12/2018 21:32

I think you're entitled to complain if you found it offensive. It will then be up to TA to decide whether to take it further, possibly depending how many/if others complained too. I agree that it is not an appropriate way to speak about women in the context of writing a public review - TA is not supposed to be humorous, but useful.

masterandmargarita · 14/12/2018 08:34

How can you compare someone being called baldy with women being mocked for having smelly fannies because of their age (I assume that's what femfresh is for?!). Maybe if your dh was called baldy git with crusty cheesy dick, we would be somewhere in the same ball park

Birdsgottafly · 14/12/2018 08:54

"How can you compare someone being called baldy with women being mocked for having smelly fannies because of their age"

As said you can't. Women are just expected to put up with this shit.

Have a lot of Partners, or multiple births? Then the assumed state of your genitals is used as an insult.

Become Menopausal, as we all will, then it's assumed, you've dried up, stink of wee, are desperate etc.

Not had multiple partners? Then your frigid and that leads to a whole load of insults, or threats that they can change that.

Attitudes like this feeds into the idea that there's a small window of a Woman's life (usually whatever one the Man decides is most fuckable) which means she has equal rights to be wherever she wants to be.

Women can't help aging, unless we are expected to die or kill ourselves.

Could you get away with a review that says, expect to be surrounded by Indian/Black Women, with a smell of Curry/Musk in the air?

clockworklime · 14/12/2018 21:18
Biscuit
overlyPrivileged · 15/12/2018 09:35

It's funny.

Since when did people get so brianless and precious that rather than ignore something they don't like, they feel the need to report it?

masterandmargarita · 15/12/2018 10:26

Birdsgottafly - spot on.

TheStoic · 15/12/2018 10:40

Meh. He’s gay, and not a fan of women. Happy to put a bet on it.

But can we please ban this from mumsnet:

Why bother getting offended? Nothing better to do?

So fucking tedious. Why bother responding? Nothing better to do?

TwistedChristmas · 15/12/2018 11:56

Every day misogyny and sexism needs challenging just like racism.

user1490465531 · 15/12/2018 12:28

A lot of gay men seem to hate women why is that?
Do men only seem to like us if they want to have sex with us?

ForalltheSaints · 15/12/2018 12:32

Perfectly reasonable in my opinion to observe most of the audience being women, even perhaps their age range, but not in the way described by the reviewer. Justifiable to complain to Trip Advisor.

The4thSandersonSister · 15/12/2018 12:39

Come back Dilly, all is forgiven.

Mookatron · 15/12/2018 14:26

Do men only seem to like us if they want to have sex with us? yes. You realise this when you become a middle aged woman.

maddiemookins16mum · 15/12/2018 14:31

Meh, I want to correct him in that it was my Always scented pads he could smell and that he was pretty spot on with his observations.
Still a knob though.

InSightMars · 15/12/2018 14:48

Get over it OP. You can't censor people's opinions or perceptions. Some here have already said they identify with the description of a certain demographic. I'd probably fit right in too.

I once read a meet-up post on the fan board of a certain classic rock band where the poster said it'd be easy to find him at the show; he'd be the fat, balding, middle-aged accountant type futilely trying to recapture his head-banging festival days - oh and he'd be wearing dad jeans and a too-small 1979 tour t-shirt.

The response from the fan looking to meet up was 'Yeah, but that describes like 90% of the fanbase, including me AND at least 3 members of the band - so what makes you stand out?'

AgentProvocateur · 15/12/2018 15:00

It was probably scented pads/liners he could smell. A lot of middle aged women smell of these nowadays. It’s a distinctive smell and quite vile. (I’m middle aged too, so it’s not an insult, but I don’t use scented pads)
