Petrol station - I don’t think I was unreasonable...

...but I’m happy to be told otherwise.

Drove into a small supermarket petrol station today. Six pumps in a row. You then drive forward to the pay station once you’ve filled up. On the far left hand side there is a pump that has pay at the pump enabled but it was out of order today.

It wasn’t massively busy but the working pumps were all occupied and two or three of them had cars sitting behind them waiting their turn. I drove behind the car on the far right to wait my turn, in the same manner.

As the girl in front of me was finishing up, I noticed that one of the cars who was waiting behind a car at another pump had driven past the pay at the pump pump, across the forecourt and was now sitting in front of the girl in front of me. She left, manoeuvring around him to get to the pay station.

I didn’t know what he was doing so I went to drive forward (deliberately slowly because I was wary). His reverse lights came on and he reversed back (very quickly) to reach the pump before I did. He got out of the car and stared me down.

I just drove to the pump on my left, which had since become free. So basically he saved himself about 30 seconds if that.

He eyeballed me the full time I was filling up my car. I had my two small children in the back and felt intimidated. I just avoided eye contact. But I feel quite put out about it tonight.

He wouldn’t have done that if I was a big bloke, would he?

I hope I’ve explained that well enough. I just wanted to vent.

Honestly you’re overthinking this. It’s so unimportant.

user1473878824 · 13/12/2018 01:25

Sorry OP, you know what I skimmed the vent but and YANBU to have a big vent. I stick by what I said before, but less grump!

DramaAlpaca · 13/12/2018 01:28

Don't give it another thought. I can guarantee the man hasn't.

ThunderInMyHeart · 13/12/2018 01:28

I’d have been furious!

Leyani · 13/12/2018 01:37

He was a complete twat and clearly enjoyed having 'won'. Idiot...

Racecardriver · 13/12/2018 01:39

‘Are you staring at me because you know you’ve pushed infront of me?’ Is what I would have said in my ‘posh’ voice if I was having a bad day. Ordinarily I would have just done the same as you though. What a weirdo.

PyongyangKipperbang · 13/12/2018 01:41

Let him have his win, it's probably all he has the pathetic little tiny todgered twat.

OutComeTheWolves · 13/12/2018 01:44

This has happened to me before too! Ie someone drove around you to push in. I was, as is typical for me, a complete coward and said nothing, but it still annoys me to this day!

Iloveautumnleaves · 13/12/2018 01:50

He was a complete twat. Sadly though, this type of selfish, intimidating twattery is becoming more common. At one time I’d have said something gobby, but people are getting more physically violent too now it seems, so I try not to react to it...just call them all manner of things in my head and hope the universe sorts them out!

HerRoyalNotness · 13/12/2018 01:57

I would have given him a slow hand clap and gone about my business.

MissyCooper · 13/12/2018 08:41

I know it’s minor it just irritated me
