Attended school nativity today Aibu to complain that teacher leading the children singing unaccompanied was singing out of tune? There was a pianist there who bizzarely didn't accompany the singing just played at the start and end of the performance...

Really?
I'm hoping this isn't real

PortiaCastis · 12/12/2018 23:24

Must've been the donkey farting rather than the teacher singing

Shockers · 12/12/2018 23:30

What?

What do you suggest? Should the teacher have singing lessons to suit the ears of the more sensitive? Are all children expected to always be in tune, regardless of their personal vocal prowess?

Is it possible that we could give credit to the level of commitment and enthusiasm of the individual- whether it be teacher or pupil, or otherwise?

Because if we could, that would be a fucking huge and marvellous step forward for our society in general.

CherryPavlova · 12/12/2018 23:34

This is a joke, isn’t it?

Hilarious

Changerazelea · 12/12/2018 23:37

Not at all suggesting or expecting children should be in tune just that the person leading the singing should be able to hold a tune. I would expect a teacher teaching mathematics to be able add why should this be any different?

Because it’s the school nativity. Ffs sit back and enjoy something lovely that your child is doing without being a dick to the teacher who probably spent overtime sorting it all out.

StressedToTheMaxx · 12/12/2018 23:40

😂😂😂

Thurmanmurman · 12/12/2018 23:42

Yes definitely complain, you won't look like a massive dick at all I promise.

orangecogs · 12/12/2018 23:42

Perhaps lodge a complaint that the performance wasn’t to your satisfaction

Confused
MutedUser · 12/12/2018 23:43

So change the lady doing the singing is employed by the school as a vocal coach?

I often forget why I love MN so much and out of the blue threads like this remind me. Grin.

You can just Imagine all the Teachers rolling round on the staff room floor being unable to breath with laughter, until it isnt bleedin funny anymore

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 12/12/2018 23:47

Maybe the member of staff isn't actually a professional singer or vocal coach.
It's a school nativity for FFS. Don't be that parent.

ghostsandghoulies · 12/12/2018 23:48

If this is the Brit School then yanbu. 😂

If not, yabu.

gobbin · 12/12/2018 23:51

I would expect a teacher teaching mathematics to be able add why should this be any different

Because the poor bugger probably isn't a music specialist (because the arts are rarely valued in primary teacher training these days, core subjects are king 🤨). We reap what we sow.

Yumyumbananas · 12/12/2018 23:51
Hmm
GreenTulips · 12/12/2018 23:52

Oh please go and have a word with this tuneless wonder I hope you get banned next year

Or why not go and offer to supervise 60 kids nativity play for 3 weeks and show her how it's done?

Youngandfree · 12/12/2018 23:53

Oh come on!!! Seriously!its a bit of fun not the fucking west end!!

tillytrotter1 · 12/12/2018 23:54

Ay yes, a typical MN kick-a-teacher type, a DM reader probably as well. Did the teacher's shoes meet with your approval, was the Head's hairdo up to scratch, though not too scratchy?
Get a life and maybe appreciate the work that goes into putting on even the simplest school play, other that rehearsing the children. Personally, I would like to see them banned altogether, those little chairs play havoc with my back!

Balaboosteh · 12/12/2018 23:57

Ha ha ha ha*
*perfectly in tune

MutedUser · 12/12/2018 23:57

Tilly 😂 have to agree with the little chairs or the scramble to get the best seats my blood pressure goes through the roof .

MollyHuaCha · 12/12/2018 23:59

Maybe the teacher was actually in tune and all the children were singing flat?

All of them.
