My son is in reception his teacher is awful ,always ignoring parents and on pick up time she will talk with other parents while im standing there waiting for her to call my child name. Whenever she want to speaks with me about somethinh concerning my son ,for example if another parent come she will leave me and starts talking to the other parent then come back to me . Like today school finish at 3.30 and i was there at 3.21 i was standing there with 4 other parents then she opened the doors call the other 4 kids and my kids wasnt called then lots of parents starts coming and i was standing in the front of her ,she just ignores me and call the other children names whos parents come after me and i was so mad i shout my son name to come out the class and my son didnt want to come because the teacher didnt call his name and all she did ignored me and she went back inside the classroom until i shout my son name again then the teaching assitant told my son to go then he comes. I dont really know what her problems because my son always on time ,never missed school since september and we always do our homework and readings .does this happen a lot or is this unusual?

It's not actually a first come first served basis and I'm getting the impression that your son is not sitting on the carpet with his belongings ready to go home.

FlibbertyGiblets · 12/12/2018 22:32

Is there anyone who can get your other children from their school?

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 12/12/2018 22:32

Is your son ready to leave? If he’s faffing about getting his coat on or gathering his stuff... or just chatting and not sitting as he’s been asked to then he won’t be called. I usually acknowledge the parent by saying, “Hurry up, Johnny, mummy’s waiting!” or some such, but it almost certainly isn’t personal. Teachers have a lot to think of.

Ellisandra · 12/12/2018 22:37

It sounds like your son isn’t ready to go, simple as that.

Far more likely than the teacher ignoring you (which she clearly doesn’t - in 5 years I’m yet to have a class teacher want to speak to me, yet you’re has).

You are strangely paranoid about it.

If you need to hurry because of doing 2 school pick ups, have you thought about explaining that to the teacher and asking if it’s possible for her to keep an eye open for your boy being ready and sending him out ASAP?

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:37

My son is very quiet and doesnt speak english so well so hes always ready with his coat on sitting on the carpet waiting to be called . Im not saying that she does knows who come first all im saying we were 5 parents standing outside then she open the door she saw all 5 of us but decide to call 4 kids to come out at the same time while my son was still seating at the carpet because she didnt call his name then other parents starts coming still she didnt call his name . So you all think that im wrong and she is right ?

We aren’t there. How do we know?

But likely than not - she isn’t picking on you.

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:39

I have no one else to pick my other children because my husband works and their school is 10 mins walk

Wolfiefan · 12/12/2018 22:40

I don’t think it’s a big enough deal to worry is someone is right or wrong. It is seriously so far from being the most important part of her job that I can’t believe this is how you judge how good a teacher she is. Confused

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:41

Ok if you think that she is not picking on me then

OP posts:
Believeitornot · 12/12/2018 22:42

No. Why would she pick on you.

If you didn’t have another school to get to, would it bother you.

Seniorcitizen1 · 12/12/2018 22:43

On your own evidence she msy be a rude teacher but you don’t provide any evidence that she is a bad teacher.

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:43

Im not judging her job because if she wasnt doing her job well then she shouldnt be there but her attitudes towards parents who dont speak very good english she might be allergic to us

OP posts:
arethereanyleftatall · 12/12/2018 22:46

She is neither picking on you, nor, on this evidence is she a bad teacher.
Teachers all the way through my dcs school have, on occasion, not called my dc out in the exact order the parents have arrived.
Of course they haven't, they've got umpteen other things on their mind.
It has never occurred to me to be bothered by this.
The fact that you seem to think she's picking on you is frankly odd - do you have a chip on your shoulder about something?

Wolfiefan · 12/12/2018 22:46

WTF? So now she’s picking on you because your English isn’t good?
You sound really paranoid. Your child has years left at school. You’re going to find them really difficult if you assume everything that every teacher ever does is because they’re “picking on” you.

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:48

It wouldnt bother me if i didnt have to pick my other children at a different school

treesup · 12/12/2018 22:49

People aren't being nice to you on here. I would go and chat with teacher explain you have other children to collect so need your son out ASAP

BackforGood · 12/12/2018 22:51

Woah - this has taken a nasty tone. You are now accusing her of being racist as well as a bad teacher ? Wow.

im always early but why does she ignore me and calls children whos parents come after me ?

Do you really think the class teacher has any idea who has arrived in what order ? You don't think that she might be doing something else in the 15mins before the end of the day, other than peering out the window to make a lst of who is arriving when ? Hmm

howrudeforme · 12/12/2018 22:57

Ok - so have a quick chat with the teacher and explain that you arrive early to be one of the first parents as you need to grab your kid quickly to enable you to get to your other children’s school.

That should sort it.

Mistressiggi · 12/12/2018 22:59

Look if something is making you uncomfortable than go and speak about it - put it in an email/letter if that feels easier, but don’t do it at pick up when everyone is milling around. Just say “I’ve noticed that even though I’m always here early my Johnny is often one of the last to leave - is there any reason for this? I have to leave quickly to collect other children so it would be great to have him come out quickly, if he’s ready on time”.

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 22:59

Well im not calling her racist but it looks like she have a problem for us speaking our language because once in the class room ,she have to tell my 7 years old son to only speaks english at home with my 4 years old son and why does it bother her and before my son started school i told her he doesnt speak good english and her face expression like she wasnt happy about that and on parents evening she have to tell me that my son doesnt knows anything and whos parents that my child plays with so i can go play date with them to improve my son english but my son have 2 siblings at home who speaks english and cousins who are fluent in english but why does she have to tell me all that when hes not a only child. Anyway i didnt want to put all this but people are now getting rude to me i dont know what i did wrong really

Believe you me, there really is nothing more stressful than releasing a class of 30, or so, primary school pupils, at the end of a school day. Teachers certainly do not have time to make a note of which parents arrive first. They have a very important job safe guarding children. Also, there are often more than one class leaving the same entrance. Shouting for the child to come, instead of waiting for the teachers to release children is not helpful. Children are told to wait until the teacher calls their name. Please respect the school's policy on safeguarding and support the adults at the end the school day. If anyone can think of an easier, quicker and safer way to do this, please inform the school in the appropriate manner.

Mrsmumof3 · 12/12/2018 23:01

The teacher knows about it because i told her the first day my son started school that i have other children to pick and every monday i have to stay with my son for homework club and i have to go and pick them then come back to school with all 3 children for homework club

UhUhUhDennis · 12/12/2018 23:02

I'm so naive about school. When my daughter starts school I won't have a clue how it all works. I assumed they all run out into the playground and parents collect them from there like the old days Blush so now what you have to stand in a line and collect them like at nursery? Until what age? Be quicker and easier to vet each parent on the way into the playground and let them all grab their children and go, it's not as if a parent you know is going to pick up someone else's child and run off with them. Anyway just my opinion misses point of thread entirely

ChesterGreySideboard · 12/12/2018 23:03

That’s an odd thing to say. The usual advice is for children to speak in their family’s language at home to get a good grounding in one language.

UhUhUhDennis · 12/12/2018 23:03

Sounds like you're trying to insinuate that the teacher is racist/discriminating against you. It's not the case I'm sure remove chip from shoulder
