No to smelly food in a small office

I work in an office which there is 8 of us, and the kitchen is very close and has no door to keep smells in. There is a late 20 year old who is very into healthy eating to the point where he eats one full plate of food at 10:30 -11:00am and another full plate of food at 3pm. I’m fine with that, I know people prefer to eat at different times of the day it’s just he eats the most smelliest foods I’ve ever encountered and he eats them at his desk instead of going to the meeting room which is where others go to eat sometimes.

The food he has at like 10:30 is what I would think of as dinner, I really struggle when he eats at this time of day, just wish he could eat it at lunch and it wouldn’t be so bad. Today I had to leave the office the smell was so bad, I was sat at my desk trying to not gag. Our boss also hates the smell as he usually pulls his jacket over his nose when he eats. Aibu to think you either leave the office and eat in the meeting room or not bring such smelly food to a small office!

Your boss needs to find his balls and deal with this. How disgusting.

I work with someone like this.

Obsessed with healthy eating and brought kippers into the office.

I was 10 weeks pregnant and morning sickess was in full flow. Wasn’t the best of times

Why would it be acceptable at lunchtime but not at 1030? What sort of thing is he eating that smells so much that it made you gag? Why would food at a desk be disgusting? It all seems so extreme to me. If there isn't a policy of not eating at your desk I don't think there is much to complain at really. What one person finds unacceptable is not the same as the next.

Microwaving fish is probably one of the most antisocial things to do in an office. It should be banned.

Really intrigued to find out what he eats? Can't stand smelly food myself. Makes me gag.
An office should be comfortable for everyone and that means not having to put your jumper over your nose to deal with the smell.
Has anyone said anything to him about it?

Other people’s smelly food is rank.
Years ago I was on a train with dd who was in nappies at the time.
Suddenly the most awful smell wafted up, I genuinely thought dd had filled her pants,
Turns out the bloke opposite was eating a full KFC at 11am.
It honked

I had a colleague who kept microwaving omelettes. Did not help the morning sickness! But at least she ate them in the lunch area which I could avoid.

You should speak with your manager if you don't think you can approach him directly.

Do you eat at your desk and prepare food in the kitchen?

Set times to eat and set foods that can be eaten sounds like a fucking awful idea.
