Bedsheets as Xmas gift

My dad has asked me for gift ideas. Just checking- it’s not weird to ask for bedsheets is it? Am I losing it?
I’m married and own a house with my husband and have a DC but would that be strange for him?!

Seems normal to me unless your asking for red silk sheets! You mean a duvet set, right? I've received that as a gift several times.

CaptainCarp · 11/12/2018 22:46

I would definitely ask for a nice set that I wouldn't buy myself. Nothing beats getting into comfy clean bedding!

lastqueenofscotland · 11/12/2018 22:47

No I love practical gifts! One less ting to get for myself

adoggymum · 11/12/2018 22:49

Definitely normal-I'm asking for a dinner set and some glasses😂

Twirlo · 11/12/2018 22:52

Yes exactly!- nice sets are expensive and it’s something I wouldn’t really treat myself to and my Dh would never think to buy any. Ok phew suddenly just thought it would be really awkward to suggest that he buys something that I’m basically going to have sex in 😬

Seems reasonable - but remember to also tell him what size

Faster · 11/12/2018 22:55

Oh no that sounds like a lovely gift! Make sure to tell him the size and if you need extra deep sheets.
I’m getting a new pan set this year, I’m rather excited!

Leeds2 · 11/12/2018 22:58

I would give him the links to several sets that you would like. Then he can choose.
But do make sure to give proper sizes, or you will be disappointed! (Speaks from bitter experience)

MrsJayy · 11/12/2018 22:58

Have you seen some you like ?the choice in the shops might be a bit much for him could you ask for dunelm/ponden/ vouchers instead

M4J4 · 11/12/2018 23:00

YABU. Unless the sheets are made of delicious Supima, then YANBU.

Sparklesocks · 11/12/2018 23:01

I love new bedsheets, it’s such a nice treat having new/clean covers on 😁

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 11/12/2018 23:06

I love practical gifts and been given both bedding and towels in previous years.
This year i have a new chain saw coming.

Pearlgrey1 · 11/12/2018 23:10

No my teen niece has asked for the fleece/teddy bear duvet set for Xmas 😂
I’d happily have some decent bedding and pjs as a gift

Twirlo · 12/12/2018 09:38

Definitely overthinking it then!

I've asked my parents for John Lewis vouchers to buy bedsheets with! It's the only thing the house needs, so that's what it will be. They gave us vouchers for curtains last year.

Don't get anything from Dunelm - horrible place.

Spanglybangles · 12/12/2018 10:18

I love nice bedding so would always love that. Currently have my eye on this set from Blubellgray

Just bought the teddy bear fleece sheets and brushed cotton duvet covers for my daughters new bed and they are amazing...can barely get her out of bed in the mornings!!

Inthetropics · 12/12/2018 10:35

Practical gifts are the best imo. An LOL at you worrying that asking for sheets could be a bad idea because you are hoing to have sex on them! Grin

Inthetropics · 12/12/2018 10:35

*going

Next have some fleece sheets and pillow covers I'm coveting this year. I've ordered DC the red and grey brushed cotton ones with stars on anyone got them, are they are good as I hope they are? and once I buy a new SUPER KING SIZE!!!!! bed in the NY, I'll be buying the fleece ones for myself.
Over the years I've asked for a steam cleaner, DH and I bought ourselves a Dyson for our wedding anniversary, and I've asked for knives too. I love a practical gift, just as much as I love a good book, some L'Occitane smellies, a Brakeburn scarf etc (ugh, name dropping, but trying to illustrate I like fancy gifts too) so no, YADNBU! Grin

My mum has just got me some new oven dishes Blush

I think for adults useful presents are much better

Junkmail · 12/12/2018 11:27

Every year my step daughter gets bedsheets for Christmas from us. They’re nice expensive sheets from the designer bit of Debenhams and she’s always thrilled because it’s not something she would be able to afford to buy herself (she’s a uni student on a budget) so it’s a real treat. I don’t think it’s wierd at all!

Spanglybangles · 12/12/2018 13:14

fibonaccisequins I bought the grey brushed cotton with stars for DD and the grey fleece fitted sheet and they are amazing, she is so cosy and I fancy them for myself but OH would be too hot.

Motoko · 12/12/2018 13:33

I'd love someone to buy me a linen duvet cover set and sheets. They're far too expensive for me to buy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for practical stuff. It's different if someone buys you, say, an iron, if you haven't asked for one though!
